"Shells, woman! What should I do to please you? You're never happy with anything I do," Dawyn complained. He was having a yet another argument with his wife. He glanced out from the window. "Shardit, what's he's doing here? Like your brother didn't have anywhere else to hang around,"
he muttered. He had sawn Nyblek arriving at their cot.

"Shut up about my brother," she growled, brushing past him to the main living area. "He's _family_. So of course he comes by to visit!"

Dawyn followed her and grumbled something under his breath. He actually liked Nyblek. But when they were having a fight, anything -anybody- was excuse for another complain.

"Keles? It's me!" Nyblek called as he peeked his head inside the door.
"Oh, there you are." He smiled as he walked into the nice warm cot.

"Hey there," she smiled, trying her very best to ignore Dawyn's rather rude remark. "You're just in time! Kelwyn woke up from his nap...I'm sure he'd love to see his favorite uncle."

"Hi Nyblek, how did your tests go?" Dawyn greeted, straining to sound causual and friendly.

"Not so bad. Your notes where helpful, thanks." Nyblek smiled as he caught a glimps of his little nephew. "Hi Kelwyn! You're awake?"

"Why don't you go get him from his cradle, Ny," Keles suggested, giving her husband a warning glance to keep his mouth _shut_.

Dawyn kept his mouth shut, but keeping his facial expressions under controll was much harder.

Nyblek was oblivious to the looks they were giving each other as he went to the babies room and picked up his nephew. "I think he needs to be changed. Do you want me to do it?" he called back to the front room.

"Please, Ny!" she called back, but her eyes were on her husband. "Can you at least _try_ to act more friendly, Dawyn?" she hissed, wondering where this sharding antagonism for her brother stemmed from. Surely not because of what happened before!

"I'll try if you stop sharinding nagging at me," Dawyn replied with quiet voice.

"Hey, I think this might be the last clean nappy... Can I use it?"
Nyblek ask, peeking around the door and dangling the cloth diaper from his finger.

Keles turned from her husband to look at him and nodded, trying to smooth the irritation from her face. Ny certainly didn't need to be caught up in the middle of all of this...though he didn't seem to be noticing much... When her brother's face diappeared around the door again, she turned back to Dawyn. "I'm _going_ to sharding nag you if you don't get your act together," he growled softly. Maybe he should just leave! Dawyn just glowered at his wife. "Nyblek, do you want some klah?" he called and gave Keles 'see I can be good host' -look.

"Yes please!" came the apprentices call from the other room.

"Right, coming up!" Dawyn called and stomped to the kithcen where he started to brew the klah. At least it gave him an excuse of not be social. He was not feeling social, he was feeling cranky, irritated and bad mooded.

She glared after her husband a moment before going into the other room to see how Nyblek and the baby were getting along. "Is everything okay in here?" she asked, coming up behind him.

"Just fine," the apprenticed beamed as he tickled the little boy's bare tummy. He was rewarded with smiles and happy gurgling.

Dawyn just stared the klah-kettle in dark mood. He was startled out of his reverie when it started to boil over.

"Shards but he's growing big," Nyblek said as he lifted the boys legs to slip the clean diaper beneath him.

Dawyn poured the water into the klah in a pot and let it soak. He took out mugs. "Keles, do you want klah too? Anybody want milk or sweetener?"

"I'll take both, thanks!" Nyblek called as he wrestled with fitting the diaper around the legs of a squirming Kelwyn.

"Me too," Keles called as she took hold of her son's legs gently, but firmly enough to keep him from kicking his uncle. "Sorry, Ny... You got him okay?"

The familiar actions of brewing klah actually had calming effect on Dawyn. He tried to count how many pots he had brewed as an apprentice or later as a journeyman when he worked late. He couldn't. Soon, the took the three mugs to the others. "Here's klah," he said with genuine smile this time.

His wife glanced at him, surprised to see the change in his attitude.
She took two mugs, and waited for Ny to finish with Kelwyn before handing him his. "Thanks, Dawyn."

"You're welcome," Dawyn replied and felt the monster of jelousy stirr again when he saw how well his brother-in-law did with the baby.

"There we go!" Nyblek cried in triumph as the little boy wrapped his tiny hands around his uncles fingers and giggled as he was gently pulled up to his feet. "It won't be long now before you're running around all over the place!"

"He is growing fast, isn't he?" Dawyn replied.

"He sure is," Nyblek laughed as the boy bounced up and down on his little legs, trying out his young muscles.

Keles grinned and reached down to smooth Kelwyn's downy hair. "No doubt he'll get into all _sort_ of mischief - like you did, Ny, when you were just a little tyke like him!"

Dawyn felt totally excluded and ignored. He didn't like it at all. He chose not to say anything, just glared.
