Homecoming

Writers: Chelle, Paula
Date Posted: 21st January 2015

Characters: Corowal, Sarban
Description: What: Corowal and Sarban catch up after Corowal returns from his vacation
Location: Emerald Falls Hold
Date: month 10, day 20 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Felyna, Relik, Xeladrie

The Lord Holder had been gone for some time. However, the steward had
everything in hand and Sarban was ready to report that all was well and
hand the reins back to Corowal, even if it was really only ceremonially
since he did all the day-to-day tasks
of running the Hold. Smiling to himself, he waited there with the children
as their parents pulled up in the riverboat. "Don't go to the bank. Wait
for them to come out."

Corowal saw them and waved his hand.

It didn't take long for them to approach their parents and Sarban let them
be, heading back to the Hold to wait for Corowal in his office. Once he was
ready, they'd talk. The children needed their time to greet and tell them
their own stories.

After the initial hassle - greeting with children, listening what they've
done in his absence and giving them gifts - was over, Corowal retreated to
the peace and quiet of his office. The children could create alot of noise.
He left Felyna and drudges to take care of the unpacking. "Phew, I have to
escape them for a while," he grinned to Sarban and closed the door after
him. "How have things been here?"

"The same as when you left. Sent the tithe out. Weather's been great. Let
the harpers handle a dispute between Lerloa and Maegos. Someone took a
runner and didn't take it back because someone else had never given the
seeds he promised etc etc." It had been worked
out through mediation so Sarban hadn't had to get involved on behalf of the
Hold. Better that way. "The kids missed you but they kept busy. Lessons,
running around in the river, maybe a riverboat ride or two..." Something
said he'd probably had something to do with that.

Corowal cocked his eyebrow at that. "Looks like you managed not to drown
one of them," he chuckled. "Sounds like they had a good time."

"The Hold is still standing so I'd say it worked out," he replied dryly.
"And how was your trip? Was it as productive as you had hoped?"
This question held many undertones since Sarban was hoping things had been
patched up between Corowal and the Lady, not to mention the trading
opportunities.

"I believe it was," Corowal replied with a cocky grin. He couldn't be
totally sure yet, but he and Felyna had certainly spent enough time in the
ship's cabin to get her pregnant again.

"Good then. When will we start benefitting from the new agreements?" Sarban
wouldn't pry any further into Corowal's personal business but the Hold
business was another matter entirely.

"Soon enough. Coral Bay's interested in our lumber, since they do have
shipyard. It's not as big and fancy as Seacraft Hall's, naturally, but we
can benefit from supplying it," Corowal replied and took a seat behind his
desk. He gave Sarban a bundle of hides. "There's the hidework, some are
still drafts and need some work, some are ready to be archived."

He took it and nodded. "Oh did you meet the new Hallmaster?" Being a former
seacrafter, Sarban was curious. He had heard of the man, but had never met
him personally.

"Briefly, during the wedding feast," Corowal replied.

"What did you think?" Sarban was mildly curious but he had other questions
to ask. **What about the new Lord and his wife? Did things look promising?**

"She seemed to be terribly young but acted like a true lady holder. Rest
will remain to be seen," Corowal replied.

"No I mean the Hallmaster." Sarban filed that away though. "Good luck to
her. Hopefully her Lord isn't the cruel type." He was pretty sure they were
all young usually. The younger, the easier to breed. Of course he didn't
mention how young Felyna was. Surprisingly she and Corowal had been married
for sometime and the Lady had yet to stop putting up with her husband. Then
again, Corowal had been behaving recently.

"Oh, him. Hard to say after such a short meeting. He's a seacrafter,"
Corowal replied with a shrug. Emerald Falls Hold didn't have much interest
in sea crafters.

Sarban let it go and decided that was really all they needed to deal with
right then. He'd give Corowal some peace and quiet. He himself was looking
forward to some klah. He was also wondering about whether or not Felyna had
found anyone while on her trip that might be amenable to becoming a wife.
She had something about considerations after all... "Well I'll leave you to
sign this hide pile over here. There's warm klah and rolls. I've got to go
and talk to the farmers. You know where to find me if you need. Otherwise
I'll see you at dinner?"

"Funny how the hidework never takes a vacation," Corowal said, eyeing the
pile absently. "See you around, Sarban. We'll have a better debriefing
after I'm settled down properly."
