There wasn't much Reeva didn't hear eventually. She didn't care a whit about
most of it, but she heard almost all of it, especially if it revolved around
the Weyr's bronzes and golds. Plus side of a good gamble, the good gossip that
went with it.

So it was she found herself leaning against a certain wall at a certain time
with the reasonable expectation of running into exactly who she did-
'accidentally', of course! "Good evening, Weyrwoman."

Rhosyn looked up, surprised to see Reeva there. She relaxed though, after
identifying the Master Healer. Out of the most of the people in the Weyr,
Reeva was one of the few Rhosyn was least nervous about. Perhaps it was her
no nonsense way about things or her trust in her. Either way, she nodded
though she kept walking. "Hey Reeva," she gave in her usual greeting.
Addressing her as Master was out of the question unless they were in front
of others. The woman knew too much about her inner workings for that.

Reeva flashed her smile, falling in to walk alongside the other woman. "You
managed to make it through the hatching without drenching N'vanik's head in
the punchbowl. Do I offer congratulations?" She was aware there was more to
it than just chit chat, of course.

"Things are just the same as they were before. Him at his Weyr, me at mine.
He's not coming here and I'm not going there so there it is. Now I just need
to find a way to get over it. Unfortunately it's slim pickings around here
as U'das says. It seems all the good men are elsewhere or taken." Rhosyn
shrugged, automatically thinking of R'enh and wishing he had come to River
Bluff instead of Dolphin Cove. She understood his desperation and his wish
to get out as soon as possible, though.

"Ah, dear one..." Reeva patted her lightly on one arm. Whether she took it
as empathy for she and N'vanik or a more tongue in cheek empathy for the
lack of men was up to her. "It's cliché, but you can forget anyone in time.
There's other good men out there- though sometimes in the oddest places."

"I know I have a long life still yet to live. At least I can't say I'm in a
hurry because I want children." She'd had one of those and didn't want to
repeat the experience if she could help it. "On the whole, though, it would
be nice to have someone to share with so I wasn't always so alone all the
time. I mean, I can manage though it's hard, but...." Rhosyn stopped talking
for a bit and thought again about N'vanik. No, she wasn't done with him by a
long shot-at least in her head. Moving on meant letting go and giving up.
Still, it was the only option now. "I told him things...but not everything."

"Children can be overrated. And I say that as a very fierce mother." She
wanted to hug Rhosyn, but didn't, of course. She never really could tell why
the Weyrwoman evoked such a maternal instinct in her, unless it was just
because she seemed such a mess most of the time. "Someone to share with
isn't. But a man who doesn't try to get everything out of you isn't the
right man to share with, in the end. He'll be the one that gets the painful
secrets out of you, even as you stand there wondering why the shards you're
doing it."

"What about one who knows them all already?" And that was another problem.
She'd been thinking so much of a certain friend that she hadn't seen much of
either. That would go nowhere, though. Sharding Dolphin Cove taking all the
good men. **Cyradis doesn't know how good she has it over there and here she
picked K'deren?** Sighing, Rhosyn tried to change the subject. "Shells
Reeva, sometimes I wish I was a brownriding man. They never seem to have
such problems. Enough, though. Let's go....for a ride and a drink." It
seemed the only logical thing. And perhaps the wine was calling her name.
Besides...there could be a man there. Or two.

Reeva cocked an eyebrow "Those..are trouble." She snorted softly at the
rather random choice of wish. "Everyone has their problems. Most can be
solved with a drink- or at least forgotten. I'll never say no."

Linking her arm with the healer's, the Weyrwoman gladly led them out into
the Bowl. Orlaith was waiting. Thanks to drills earlier, the gold was
already in her straps which was convenient. "Can you get up first?" The big
queen was quietly waiting and watching, glad that her rider had someone to
watch her. Rhosyn drinking alone was never a good thing.

"I've known riders enough." She grinned somewhat suggestively. "Many thanks,
Orlaith." She seated herself passably well- perhaps not as experienced as a
rider, but not too badly.

"Riders being what they are...most dragons aren't as big as mine. And me
being as small as I am, I know it can be difficult and I do it a lot." There
might have been just a hint of pride at the size of her queen. Rhosyn
grinned and got herself up there with a series of careful movements. When
she was in and strapped, she checked Reeva's part of the harness and
pronounced them ready. "Alright, here we go!" With that, Orlaith's big wings
opened first, fanning out and up as she crouched down. Then her haunches
launched them into the air and her wings were beating, gaining altitude. The
watchdragon bugled a challenge, although somewhat muted at sight of the
senior queen. After their destination was relayed, they disappeared
/between/ a little beyond the Star Stones.

When they came out, they were actually on the northern continent. Rhosyn had
chosen a coastal place she favored that had strong ale and thick soup. It
was also not oppressively hot as River Bluff often was. Orlaith took her
time picking out a place to land to deposit her cargo. "Here we are."

Reeva kept her surprise at their destination to a raised eyebrow. "Indeed we
are. Far enough from home to make me hope Orlaith's between-sense is not
compromised if you are. I presume compromised is the state you're hoping
for, of course!"

"Ah no, not completely. Just want to have a drink and maybe some good food.
Not enough to completely forget who I am though. At least not for the
moment." Some days she wished she was someone different with other concerns.
Then she woke up and realized that wasn't going to happen and she had better
get with the program. At the end of the day, though, when she had free time,
she tended to leave the rest of the world and drift off. Dismounting
carefully, Rhosyn knew they had been spotted. The food would be waiting for
her-good.

Healer-Reeva noted that response and read more into it than Reeva-Reeva
chose to let on. Reeva-Reeva left it at a smile as she drifted after the
Weyrwoman.
