Teseada

Teseada

Teseada was sat on the edge of her bed. She slipped a foot into one of her new boots, pointing it and pulling gently as it came into place.
The second boot followed and then she got to her feet. "How does it look?" she asked.

"Your boots or everything?" Karri teased with a smile as she slipped on her jacket.

"Everything," she replied slipping on her own jacket. "Do we all look like real riders now?"

}:You are a real rider,:{ butted in the gold from outside.

**I know love, but this makes it feel even better,** was the quick reply to mollify her.

"_You_ look like a real rider," she replied in a sardonic tone as she looked down at the sleeves that covered her hands, "Are we supposed to grow into these things, or do I just have short arms?"

"Maybe they do need adjusting a little," said Teseada after a moment. "But perhaps you could roll the sleeves up for now?"

She nodded and began adusting the sleeves as best she could, "Reminds me of all the hand me downs I used to get from my siblings back home.
I guess I'm just getting spoiled here in the Weyr."

"I never had a brother or sister to share things with," said Teseada.

"I had lots, twelve brothers and sisters. And it's not exactly sharing, more like left-overs." She didn't miss her old home or her old life one bit she realized, not even her oldest brother who had still treated her kindly after her fall and scar.

"But then I grew up here, and there were always lots of other kids around." Teseada grinned, her childhood might not have always been enjoyable, but there were plus points to having a father who was a dragon rider. "We always got things from the stores when we needed them, and when we didn't need them any more, we put them back."

"Hmm, must have been nice." Karri murmured as she fitted her belt on.

"But there where times when I thought I'd like a little brother or sister."

The belt was almost too large too she realized as she fastened it on the last notch, she really must grow some more. "No, no, you've got it backwards. You want to _be_ a little sister. That way you don't have to deal with diapers or anything. And with a big brother, sometimes they'll take you for rides on their runners."

"But don't you get bossed about if you are the youngest?" asked Teseada curiously.

"Hmm, I guess you've got a point there. I always was bossed around when I was at home, although mostly by my mother." Karri shrugged then eyed her helmet on the bed before setting it down snugly on top of her head, tucking the hair that stuck out in. "How do I look?"

"Like a real dragonrider!"
