}:Torerath, would your rider come meet mine in the offices?:{ Rogueth
asked the brown politely.

K'ran had taken the liberty of ordering a big pitcher of klah for this
meeting. He thought it might take awhile. He hadn't done one of these big
reviews before, so he was very glad to have an experienced Wingsecond who
knew the drill.

"Good afternoon," D'ale greeted K'ran with a smile as he came into the
office in response to the summons. . "Oh good, I needed that," he said
and made straight for the steaming pot of Klah to pour himself a cup.

"I understand the feeling," K'ran said with a laugh. "How are you and your
family doing?"

"Good," he smiled. Surely that was simply a polite question and the
man didn't want all the little gushing details of an infiant and small
child. Though Yanley was another thing entirely and he found himself
quite possessive unlike anything he'd felt for a woman in the past.
"Kids are growing like weeds and Yanley is amazing," he grinned wider
as he sat down at the big desk. "Is Dragonsfall feeling more like home
for you now?"

"It must be nice to have your family, I'm glad they're well," K'ran said.

In return to the second question, he thought about it. "It's feeling more
like it. I don't know if any one place ever felt like it."

"Put down some roots then K'ran," he said. "It really makes life worth it."

"I hope someday I'll find the woman who makes me happy, like you
have." He had a feeling he'd found one who interested him. But that
wasn't here nor there.

"It can come from an unexpected source. I certainly didn't intend to
fall for a holder, and a Lady of the Blood at that," D'ale grinned.
"It was rather scandalous at the time. But at least she said yes."

"So," he said pointing at the hides with his chin. "Time for reviews?"

"I'm trusting you to help me through this," he quipped. "Are there any
major problems you've noticed so far?"

D'ale shook his head slowly, "Nothing really major comes to mind.
Though there are some niggling issues. I'm really happy with our new
bronzerider T'nom. He seems to fit in well and has really worked to
get up to speed with our procedures."

"His record's promising, too. Given that his bronze has caught gold at
that young age."

"Yes he did," D'ale "Ma'din is another story altogether. While he
fights thread well, he doesn't get along with his wingmates, unless
they happen to be female and he has an agenda."

"I'm not sure how to integrate him. He's rather..." K'ran looked for a
diplomatic word. "Prideful of his own skills, and disinclined to work with
others."

"There was one other thing I'd thought we might discuss," D'ale had
been hoping Kenza would return to her post but she wasn't showing any
signs of wanting the position back. "Do you see any of these as a
potential Wingthird?"

"D'aon has a good head on him," K'ran said.

"He does," D'ale nodded. "If we can get past his lousy attitude."

"He's rubbed a few people the wrong way. I'm not sure if leadership would
steady him up or make him worse."

"Well from my impressions, he has the ability if he's willing to learn
how to deal with riders and no just ride roughshod over them at the
least provocation."

"Exactly. We could see how he handles the wing part of it by rotating a
few blue and green riders into the spot during drills?"

D'ale's smile turned sly. "I like it. Who else do you think we should try
out?"

"Someone steady. How about L'vrei?" The bluerider was only 26, but
he'd Impressed young and had a good head on him. A few drills in the
position might boost his confidence.

D'ale nodded thoughtfully, "He's good and I think it would be a good
learning opportunity." He stroked his chin for a moment that then spat
out the next name. "How about R'axe? He's solid but still that darn
attitude."

"Give him a shot, too," K'ran mused. "We can see how the wing reacts to
each of their personalities. Maybe someone will surprise us."

"Alright, I'll talk to them and get back to you with a possible
rotation for testing them out." He jotted himself a note and set down
the hide. "We're there any other wingriders you wanted to discuss in
particular?"

"Nobody specific. But I would like to do a snap surprise drill to test
people's readiness. I feel like folks are getting a little complacent,"

"Sounds good, maybe like a test response for an uncharted 'Fall?"

"Exactly what I was thinking."
