Ninaine

Luneth was floating gently in the lake, amusing herself with the fish
when she heard from Haloth. She lifted her head and peered in the
direction of the weyr and huffed softly. }: No, mine is not going to
be home for a while. She is with Onnyth's and she is not happy with
Yours right now. :{ There was a scold in her tone, as the bronze was
also at fault for her rider's displeasure.

N'call spat out an expletive and covered his eyes with his hands.
Trust Teseada to break the news herself instead of giving him
permission to do it. His hand traveled down over his face and he set
down the stylus with which he'd been drawing up the Drill G'nir had
assigned him. "Great," he said and summoned Haloth to take him to
Teseada's Weyr. He knew the Bronze would ask for permission before
they got there.

**What?** Teseada's brow momentarily creased as Onnyth passed on the
message.

"N'call wants to talk, to you," she said to to Ninaine.

Ninaine lifted her head, a cookie still in her hand and a cup of tea in the
other. She'd been enjoying the conversation with Teseada, trying to share
what knowledge they had of babies. She gave a little sniff. "I'm still angry
at him. He can talk to you if you like."

"He's asked to come here, and I think he's on his way." Teseada said.

Nibbling on the cookie, she looked at Teseada, her lower lip thrust
out as she thought. "Well, it's your weyr, Teseada. Let him in, if you
want." She paused and then slowly smiled. "You know, he might be
worried that we're at each other's throats."

"Maybe it might be fun to let him think that for a little while."

Once he had the permission Haloth deposited him on Teseada's ledge and
he took a deep breath. **This is going to be awkward no matter how it
goes.** He bowed respectfully to Onnyth. "You're lovely today Onnyth,"
he said as he rose. He didn't see any negative emotions in the
dragon's eyes that he'd thought might be there if Teseada were angry
with him.

"Ladies," he said as he walked into the weyr. His eyes were wary as he
looked back and forth between the two women. "Are you alright?"

Ninaine rose from her seat, pregnant abdomen ahead of her and
thrusting like an accusing finger. Instead of answering him, she
crossed her arms and drummed her fingers on her arms and frowned.

"Yeah," he said crossing his own arms. "That's really going to tell me
what's wrong." This behavior he expected from Ninaine but he didn't
know what to make of Teseada. He simply arched an eyebrow in her
direction as if to say "what's going on?"

The goldrider simply shrugged, as if to say she didn't know. Then she tried,
but not totally successfully, to direct a glare at first the bronzerider,
then the greenrider.

"You already know what's wrong otherwise you wouldn't have rushed up
here." Ninaine pointed out. She gestured to Teseada and her abdomen,
then to her own. "I think you forgot to mention something that's
pretty important."

"I didn't forget," he looked at her directly. "I didn't tell you on
purpose. Because I knew you would act this way." His eyes tightened to
prevent the smile he wanted to shoot at Teseada. He knew this would
happen when Ninaine found out about Teseada. He'd said as much when
he'd asked her if he could tell the greenrider. But he'd respected her
wishes to keep it to himself. That didn't mean he would toss her to
the felines now and blame it all on her.

"Keeping it quiet does not mean excluding the important people in your
life," Teseada said simply.

N'call looked at Tes and his eyes narrowed just a little. Interesting
how they remembered the conversation so differently. "Really? That's
not the impression I got." This conversation was just going down hill
and out of control.

"It's my fault that you didn't tell me?" Ninaine stared at N'call, a
little hurt, but then was even more confused by their conversation.
Clearly there had been something between them that she didn't know.
But was that really important? "Were you ever going to tell me,
N'call? Why did I have to find out because of a rumor?"

His eyes narrowed. "It is no one's 'fault' as you put it. You are
determined to be mad and I'm not sorry. So you just go ahead and be
mad as long as you need, and I won't be sorry. Teseada is my friend
and has been for Turns. I care about her. 'Though I don't always
understand her decisions." He held up a hand before she could retort.
"I'm not sorry about that either. And in case you haven't noticed,
you're the one living with me right now." Why did he always have to
explain the ways of the Weyr over and over. It was becoming
exhausting.

She just looked at him for a moment, then looked at Teseada before
turning back to N'call. He wasn't sorry that he hurt her? Her face
smoothed and she spoke simply, falling back on her reserve. "You hurt
me." She turned to Teseada and surprisingly, gave her a quick hug.
"Thank you for talking to me. I'll leave you two alone now." She
turned and walked towards the weyr door, mentally calling for Luneth
to come fetch her when she was outside.

"No that's not what..." but she was already gone. He rolled his eyes
and lifted his hands helplessly. "I really don't know what to do with
her sometimes," he said as he took a step towards Teseada. "Are you
alright?"

"I'm fine, I'll be fine. but you need to work things out with her. Yes, I
did say to keep it quiet," admitted the goldrider. "but I did expect you'd
tell the people that matter, like I did. Some people do need to know what's
going on, and Ninaine is one of them, because she's affected by it too."

"Right," he said accepting the criticism. "Well I guess I'll have to
go figure out how to fix this," he smiled rather guiltily at her.
"Sorry Tes," he said and scooted out the door.
