N'vanik

N'vanik

Kenza wasn't sure what woke her after the flight. It certainly wasn't Solith, who was deep in contented sleep and in not likely to wake any time soon. She could have done with another candlemark or two of sleep, even if what she could feel of the body stretched out next to her was certainly pleasant enough. So were her hazy memories of the flight itself. Obviously whoever she'd ended up with had been up to dealing with her frustration laced dragonlust, but that didn't mean she was anxious to turn over and see who she'd ended up with. Considering how many young men in the Weyr she'd given the sharp side of her tongue, she found it far less troublesome to give any terrified young men a chance to flee. The man in question stirred and opened his eyes. When he saw who he was lying next to, N'vanik groaned. "Oh, shards."

Kenza rolled her eyes and tugged the blankets away from her companion, snuggling down into her pillow. "Same to you. Run away, puppy. I'm going back to sleep."

He _would_ have left, but now this was a challenge. "Give me that." N'vanik grabbed the blankets and tugged them back. "I'm not leaving."

"Hey!" It was chilly enough that Kenza glared over her shoulder at N'vanik as she clung to her side of the blankets. "I will injure parts of you that you hold dear if you do that again! It figures you'd be an annoying arse _and_ a blanket thief!"

"Blanket thief?!" he protested. "You took them from me first!"

Kenza nudged him with an elbow--accidentally, of course--as she turned onto her back. "You weren't supposed to need them any more," she pointed out, quirking an eyebrow at him. "So what are we doing, anyway? Trying to see how long you can stay here before your courage gives out and you run away?"

"Lots of men might be scared of you Kenza," he smiled, "but I ain't one of them."

She snorted. "I can't tell you how relieved I am. But do we really need to spend the next few candlemarks being awkward at each other just to prove it?"

N'vanik shrugged. "I've got nothing better to do." He moved deeper under the covers. Grumbling, Kenza turned back on her side. She wasn't above shifting closer to him, though. Annoying as he was, he _was_ nice and warm. Which was why it made perfect sense to tuck her knees up and plant her cold feet on his legs.
Either he'd give up and leave, or her feet would end up warm. Either way she won.

He flinched at the cold touch and scowled. He regretted that no part of _his_ body was cold. There had to be something . . . N'vanik scooted closer and threw an arm across her breasts. "Might as well be comfortable," he said, although this was definitely _not_.

Kenza winced and squirmed under his arm, trying to find a comfortable position. "You know, you're being really, really annoying. Aren't there pretty young women out there waiting for you and hoping you've got some dragonlust left?" "And leave you all alone? Nah, you need some company." If he kept his mind on annoying her, it was easier not to think of anything _else_.

"I need some sleep," she replied grumpily. She paused for a moment and then added thoughtfully, "Or another round of enthusiastic sex. At least that would guarantee I'd get to sleep no matter how annoying you were." "Are you serious?" N'vanik was disturbed to find he was actually _considering_ it.

She snorted again. "Poor N'vanik. Aren't you just having a terrible afternoon? I promise that I am suitably impressed with your ability to annoy me even in the face of nakedness."

Lying so close to her, it was hard not to think of the flight. The memory wasn't clear, but he could recall the sensations--the lust mixed with frustration and anger, both of them giving and taking. . . and N'vanik realized he had more dragonlust left in him than he'd thought. He sat up.
"Alright, fine. You win." He climbed out of bed and began searching for his pants.

Kenza rolled over and tucked her hands behind her head, watching him get dressed with a grin. "You shouldn't let your pride trap you into doing stupid things," she said conversationally. "I am not in the least bit offended at you wanting to go find a woman more to your tastes, and in spite of your obvious charms and sexy brooding eyes, I have my own sort of man I prefer."

N'vanik located his shirt and turned to leave. At the door, he paused. "If a flight with you is that good every time, I wouldn't mind winning again."

The greenrider grinned at him. "Same goes for you, lad. No go find yourself a nice young woman, because I'm going back to sleep."
