"Well, that was some spectacle today with A'kua wasn't it?" D'kere asked as
he and Talwynn walked back to her weyr for the evening. He was, thankfully,
not on night duty that evening for the Weyrlings so they weren't forced to
stay in his weyr (which was an easy way to get disrupted when a Weyrling
turned up needing something.)

"It was something. Poor kid, he got really upset before I dragged his dad
off. Riveth said Zeiranth was very upset. I don't think I like that man
and I wish Riveth and I got to throw him out on his ear," she said.

D'kere's mouth twisted a little. "I don't know, I sort of felt like A'kua
needed to man up a little and stop acting like such a baby. He's too old,
and a bronzerider now, to be acting like that."

"At least it didn't turn into direct violence. Didn't one of Dolphin
Cove's weyrlings stab a man?" She'd heard about it through Ikara.

"That's what I heard, but I also heard the kid has a hinge loose up here,"
he tapped his head. "It's a wonder a dragon would ever even pick someone
like that."

"I guess he had something his dragon needed. Maybe that kind of aggression
will be good in Threadfall or something." But she sounded dubious. "Makes
you glad you're not there though, right?"

"Very glad, I don't think I have the patience to deal with something like
that." D'kere placed a hand to the small of Talwynn's back as they entered
her weyr. "What was the meeting between Saibra and A'kua's dad like?"

"The guy was begging to stay. Said he needed a chance to make things right
with his son." Talwynn rolled her eyes. "I can't believe Saibra let him."

D'kere lifted his shoulders, "I don't know, I mean, I can't see anything
that the man did wrong except show up. He had no way of knowing that A'kua
was going to flip his wig."

"Well, he didn't do anything when he got here. But it sounds like he had a
habit of sleeping with unmarried women without thinking about
consequences. At a weyr it's one thing, but holders are _weird_ about
that."

"But A'kua is a part of the Weyr now, he's going to have to adapt and not
explode over something that shouldn't have been such a big deal. Zeiranth
was less upset, _he_ was the one trying to calm A'kua. A baby dragonet
handled the situation better." D'kere pointed out.

"So Zeiranth is very mature, but A'kua needs a little more seasoning.
Tomorrow isn't likely to go any better than today," she predicted.

D'kere agreed with that. "I was a little surprise Saibra agreed to let
Genna be the goldrider handling the situation. She's still rather young and
inexperienced. I guess she has to learn sometime though."

"Genna's his friend, will she really be okay to mediate? I guess that
makes it more of a test for her."

"I don't think she should be mediating, period, regardless of whether her
dragon hatched Zeiranth. Any gold in the Weyr can command him. I think
Teseada would have been more suited to the situation, but I guess all we
can do is wait and see. I'll have Kenirath keep tabs on the situation."
D'kere unbuttoned his vest and shrugged out of the garment.

"Let me know if you need me to do anything." Talwynn started unlacing her
own clothes.

"Speaking of Teseada, I spent some time with her and the baby."

"Oh? How are they doing?" He asked with genuine interest.

"Good. He's cuter than I expected," she admitted.

D'kere laughed. "What made you think he wouldn't be cute?"

"He's a _baby_," Talwynn said, as if that explained everything. "They're
small and wrinkled and smelly. I always thought baby dragons were better.
And yet he was cute and waving and interested in the world, too."

He couldn't help but laugh again. "How many babies have you been around?
Yeah, they're wrinkly when they _first_ come out, but then they're fat,
round and cute."

"Not many," she admitted. "But I'd cuddle that one again."

"Maybe you'll have one of your own someday to cuddle." he said.

"I know I'd said no before, but her son makes me think about it a bit,"
she said.

A teasing smile tugged across D'kere's face, "You mean this charming mug,"
he gestured toward himself, "doesn't make you think about it some?"

Talwynn snorted as she bent over to pull off her pants and throw them to
the side. "It maakes me think about baby_making_. Not so much about the
actual baby."

D'kere's eyes followed the line of Talwynn's rapidly appearing curves.
"Yes, the _making_ is the fun part." He tossed his shirt to the side.

Getting her pants off had been easier than removing her bodice. Talwynn
fumbled a few times before pulling it over her head. "It's something we
might need more practice out. To get better at."

The bronzerider let the weight of his unbuckled belt carry his pants to the
floor. "I would agree. Practice makes perfect and all that." His eyes were
now glued to her exposed skin.

She grinned and stepped closer to him. "You want to try for some more
practice, then?"

There was a hungry look in D'kere's blue eyes as he reached for Talwynn,
"Oh yes."
