Description: Tener and Ayressa discuss some troubling news.
Location: Green Valley Hold
Date: month 3, day 12 of Turn 8
Tener's stomach trembled, his knees turning to jelly as he watched the
entire future he had planned for himself slowly twist and fade from sight.
How could this have happened? He'd thought a girl of her status would have
known better. The young journeyman's eyes slid shut. Tener could already
see the look of rage he knew would be on his father's face, and his mother…
Dear Faranth, he didn't even want to think about _that_.
"You are sure?" he croaked.
Did he really ask that? Ayressa stared at the young man before her a
moment before she squeaked out, "What do you mean I'm sure? Of course I'm
sure." Tears stung her eyes but she refused to let them get any further.
She would not cry. She would _not_!
Well, apparently she hadn't been sure that she was on teas or they wouldn't
have been in this situation, Tener thought. Sitting down heavily, Tener put
his hands over his face.
"My dad is going to kill me."
"What about _me_?" Ayressa couldn't understand his reaction. "This
affects me too, not just you!" Her lip trembled and she attempted to
control it by biting down lightly. "What are we going to do?"
**Maybe we can get rid of it and pretend like it never happened.** Was
Tener's first knee-jerk reaction, but he was smart enough not to put voice
to the thought.
"I-I dunno." He murmured before turning startling blue eyes on her. "Why
weren't you taking teas?!"
"I _was_ Tener. I swear!" Ayressa had been faithful about it too. The
last thing they had needed was for a baby to enter the picture, but now it
seemed that was going to happen regardless.
Tener raked his fingers through his collar-length hair that looked so much
like his oldest brother's. There went all of his dreams of pursuing his
smithcraft until he reached Master, and of traveling around the Southern
Continent. Now what would he do? Be stuck at Green Valley his whole life
like his brothers?
"What will your family think?" Tener wondered aloud, even though he knew it
wouldn't be good. Ayressa had been sent there to Green Valley to foster
with Reven's family.
"Oh I know what they think, but I really don't want to…" Ayressa almost
choked on her words. Much like Tener had voiced, she thought her father
might be inclined to kill her. "I don't know if I can face my parents."
Tener rocked back and forth a little, one knee bouncing up and down
nervously as he tried to consider what their next move would be. Clearly a
pregnancy wasn't something they could hide from Ayressa's family, and it
definitely wasn't something they could hide from Tener's.
"I will… I will talk to Reven and see what he thinks. At least he might
help.. break it to our families." Tener suggested.
"You think he'll help?" Might was a big word, it could swing either way.
Ayressa didn't want a might.
Tener considered that for a moment. He could go to Coran, Coran was a
healer, but Coran was also the "responsible" brother that had done
everything right growing up. "I think Reven is our best shot."
"What do you think he'll say?" More than likely, she'd prefer the reaction
of the holder over that of her parents. Ayressa really did not look
forward to that little meeting.
"I don't know, to be honest, but I'll let you know as soon as I talk to
him." He suddenly stood. "Maybe I can go find him now."
"The sooner," Ayressa admitted, still biting back tears, "The better."
