Description: Kapera lets Cyradis know about her plans.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 4, day 20 of Turn 8
Notes: Notes: Follows after "Not What She Wanted".
Mentioned: J'nus
Kapera's instinct after leaving the Infirmary was to go straight to
her weyr and take the trip. Instead, she headed towards the
Weyrwoman's office, hoping Cyradis would still be there at this time.
If not, they could meet elsewhere. **Is Cyradis in her office?**
}:Panitath? My rider wishes to meet with yours. Is she free?:{ Riyanth asked.
The answer was immediately positive and Cyradis rose to open the door
to her office. It wasn't often that Kapera used the formal method to
see where she was but she schooled her expression to polite interest.
"Kapera? Everything alright?"
"Sorry to trouble you this late," she said, knowing they'd just had
drills earlier. "I was just visiting the Infirmary and I got some
news."
"Don't worry," Cyradis waived off the apology. "Oh? Good or bad?"
Frankly she feared the worst when the news came like this.
Kapera took a deep breath before speaking. "Unwanted. I'm planning on
taking a short trip /between/ to resolve it."
Cyradis paused a moment before reacting but then nodded. It was
Kapera's choice after all. "You're sure that is what you want?"
"I'm sure. I'm not interested in being a mother, at this time," she
qualified hastily, "and I'd prefer not to ground Riyanth and myself
for that long."
"I understand," and the truth was she did understand. Kapera wasn't
weyrmated and actually Cyradis hadn't tried to keep track of the
woman's relationships. "Does the father know?" That sounded better
than asking who the father might be.
"I haven't spoken to him yet. I came straight here," she said,
straightening her back slightly. She could have gone to J'nus first
for comfort, but her first thought had been to rid herself.
"Right," she gave the younger goldrider a small smile. "Do you want to
come here after so I can watch after you until..." she let the word
hover in the air. There was nothing more difficult that being sick all
alone.
"Would it be a bother?" the other goldrider asked, touched by the
offer. "The Healers had suggested I report back there for overnight
care, if that's easier."
"Whatever makes you comfortable. I know how difficult it can be." Not
the flight of course but the miscarriage after could be anything from
merely uncomfortable to downright painful.
"I'd rather be here than the Infirmary," the dark-haired goldrider
said with a force that surprised herself. She hated them. She'd have
to go in to be checked up to make sure it had all taken, but to spend
the night in there alone? It was a terrifying thought that made her
heart skip a beat.
"Then here is where you'll be. I'll send the children to their foster
mothers and we'll have a bit of peace and quiet... and a good bottle
of wine." Cyradis smiled and put her arm around Kapera and led her to
the couch. "When are you going to fly?"
She settled down and tilted her head. "When's convenient? The day
before a restday might be better, gives a day off. Or fall might wind
up doing it by accident."
"When we come back from the next 'fall. Take an extra long interval to
get back to the weyr." She tapped Kapera's thigh. "That should do it
and then you'll have the rest day and only meetings the next. We'll
relax in my pool and no one will know." Her eyes were serious. "I hope
you can tell the father what you're going to do before you do it. But
that is really your choice. I only say this this because telling him
after could break your relationship."
Five days. She could survive that. "I'm sorry - it's been awhile since
this. I just wanted you to know. And you're so helpful."
"I know it's a hard decision and I don't need to know your reasons. I
just want you safe and comfortable." It was more than just the good
job Kapera had been doing despite everything she'd been told about the
woman going in. She liked Kapera and hoped that their relationship
would be the template with which the younger gold rider could someday
lead her own Weyr. She'd been far too young the first time the job had
been thrust on her. Cyradis smiled. "It will all come out alright."
"Still, it's more than you had to offer. It can be a fun girls night."
The image gave her a little smile.
"Yes, a fun girls night."
