Genna was quite pleased at herself as she rearranged the bow on her present one last time. It felt like a perfect gift to her and she hoped her friend would like it. He had done her such a favor in training her to defend herself, something she found had improved her confidence greatly and with it her general sense of well-being. She had come to enjoy the physical effort and had taken up a schedule of exercises in the privacy of her own Weyr, priding herself in her growing strength and general fitness.
Yes, it had changed her, but not in the manner A'kua had warned her about. Even if he had feared making her suspicious, paranoid even, he had still helped her out because she had asked him to. Wasn't that what friendship was about? Being able to view things from another's perspective and help them out even if you didn't entirely agree? Yes, she was truly grateful and figured this favor deserved one in return.
So she'd taken Lissath to the Harper Hall in a spare moment and had enlisted their help in creating the perfect gift. With the aid of a particularly helpful journeyman she had put together a collection of items she knew her friend would be able to appreciate - everything he needed to professionally record the songs he wrote. An assortment of pens, ink and high quality, durable paper. She had bound this all together into a package, wrapped it in colorful cloth and tied it all together with a bow, lastly tucking in an envelope that read A'kua's name.
Once opened the envelope would reveal a letter containing the following words:
"Dear A'kua,
Here is a little present from one friend to another. It is a thank you in general for being such a dear, devoted friend and in particular for helping me with self-defense lessons. They have helped me in so many ways, I must have already told you a thousand times how much, but I feel a gift is in order for such a big favor. Thank you once again, for helping me out and for being a friend I can always depend on. I know you know, but just to have it said once again, if I can ever help you out with anything, let me know and I will do whatever is in my power to do.

She had doubted between just bringing him the gift herself, or adding an element of surprise for good fun. It wasn't too hard to think of a way to sneak in the present to his Weyr at all and so she decided on surprising him with it. During one of her sowing sessions with Firelloa, she enlisted the young girls help to smuggle the package into A'kua's weyr and leave it for him to find. She was quite sure she'd hear about it soon enough…
