Benamil

Benamil

Eyrath was settled out getting some sun so Akidra walked from the Vintner Hall to the Hold, it was no further than some of the walking she'd had to do when running errands around the Weyr.

**The stables,** that's where Arion had said Benamil would most likely be.

To the credit of Amber Hills, Akidra received several respectful nods as people noticed her jacket and wingrider knots, she'd been places where she was ignored.

"Can I help you ma'am?" a man with a snaggled-tooth grin asked.

"Just looking for the stables," she said with a return smile.

"Keep following the path and it'll lead you right up to it."

Akidra tilted her head, "Thank you, sir." She patted the breast pocket of her jacket where Arion's note was safely tucked and continued walking. The man had been right, the stables were hard to miss. The barn structure was enormous and the wood crafting spectacular. Attached to the barn was two corrals, a larger one, where several runners were grazing across the field, and then a smaller one, where she could see a mare and her new foal grazing peacefully.

Her eyes narrowed in on a man in a rich brown hat, she could see some of his sandy brown hair peaking out from underneath the hat, and his work clothes, while just as dirty as all of the other men's, were tailored and of finer quality.

**A son of Benaroy.** She smiled as she made her way over to him.

"Journeyman Benamil?" she asked.

Benamil reached up and thumped the front brim of his hat, forcing it back a little so he could look at the dragonrider clearly. What was a dragonrider doing there for him?

"That's me," he replied.

Akidra took full stock of Benamil, his broad shoulders, the lean, rangy muscles that were evident underneath his chambray shirt. She could even tell by the way his pants moved across his thighs that he was muscled there too. **Good job, Arion.** she smirked inwardly.

She glanced around to see if they would be overheard before murmuring, "I'm Akidra of Green Eyrath, one of Arion's sisters."

Benamil was mildly surprised, but as he looked more closely at the greenrider he could see the same jawline in her that he loved in Arion's face, and the eyes were nearly identical. She was the female version of Arion.

"I should have noticed the resemblance first," Benamil said. "Is there something I can do for you?"

Akidra reached into her jacket pocket and retrieved the note, "Yes, I'm supposed to deliver this to you."

Benamil leaned the pitchfork he'd been working with against the fence and opened the note. "Come see me," he read out loud. "That's all he wrote?"

The greenrider's eyes slid shut and she sighed, "I knew it was too short."

The beastcrafter carefully folded the note and slid it into his back pocket. "He wants to see me?" After what Arion had said the last time they'd talked Benamil hadn't been sure where he stood with the vintner any more.

"Yes," Akidra laughed a little and shoved her hands into her pockets, "look, my brother is stupid. He likes you a lot, he's afraid you're going to forget about him, and he doesn't know how to actually have a conversation with you about it. Please, put him out of his misery."

"I'm actually relieved to hear you say that. I thought I was doing something to help us and then it backfired in my face." Benamil confessed.

Akidra liked the emotion she could see in Benamil's eyes when he was talking about Arion. It made her feel as though her little brother wasn't going to get hurt, it seemed this son of Benaroy really did have feelings for Arion.

"Just... go see him soon?"

Benamil smiled, "I will," he reached out his hand to shake Akidra's.

The greenrider gave the beastcrafter's hand a firm squeeze and then stepped closer to growl in his ear, "If you hurt him I'll drop you off /between/, understand?"

"Understood," Benamil didn't mind the hazing, he knew what it was like being protective over a sibling.

"Good," she smiled, stepping back, "it was nice meeting you. I think you'll do just fine."

"I appreciate the approval. It was nice meeting you as well." Benamil tipped his hat.

Akidra started back down the path, but then stopped and turned, "Oh, and congratulations on the betrothal," she shot him a grin which he returned before she left.
