Description: Nialyn finds Birigundi's womanizing ways difficult to accept
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 11, day 4 of Turn 3
No matter how Nialyn tried to busy herself with her duties, she couldn't help but keep on noticing how obvious he was being with that...woman. Shards and shells. She needed to stop looking at them. Him. _Both_ of them. But once again, her eyes drifted to where he was sitting, the slender young woman chuckling and wriggling in his lap, her fingers playing along his shoulders...
Something twisted painfully inside of her, and she bit her lip against the irrational jealousy that was creeping into her thoughts. It was because of the pregnancy. She knew it. Nialyn looked down, briefly touching the tips of her fingers to her abdomen. It was starting to become more noticable now. Not all her skirts were fitting right anymore, and most of her blouses and tunics were too tight around the chest to be comfortable.
Hearing Birigundi's laugh, her eyes went to him again - and she wished she hadn't looked.
"I think we dropped this," he laughed as he pulled her brassier up from under the table.
"That's ok," she giggled as she threw it brazenly on the table. "It's not like I will be needing it anytime soon."
Shards. Nialyn bit her lip, a part of her very glad that she was far enough from them so she couldn't hear what they said to one another. But the look on his face....
"Personally, I'm not sure why you have to be wearing any clothes at all,"
he whispered against her skin as he nibbled her neck.
"Oh, that's easy, Biri," she chuckled deep down in her throat as she pulled back to look at him. "I _don't_ have to." With a seductive grin she began slowly pulling at the ties that held her shirt closed.
Nialyn's hands tightened over one of the napkins she was supposed to be folding, her fingers clenching around the material, her nails biting through to her palms. She took in a deep breath, her eyes fluttering closed briefly as she willed herself to calm down. **I shouldn't be bothered by this. I shouldn't be...**
"All right, all right," Birigundi laughed as he took her hands in his. "Let's continue this back up in your weyr." His eyes held a light of anticipation as he helped her re-tie her shirt. "Come on," he said with a husky whisper as she slipped of his lap.
They started walking out of the dining cavern when the girl dropped his hand suddenly. "I'll be right back. I want to get us a little something to drink."
"I'll be right here. I'm not going anywhere," Birigundi smiled as he watched her walk away. Things were looking _promising_. He turned with a smile and for the first time noticed the young woman folding the napkins. "Nia! I didn't see you in here. How are you doing this evening?"
At the sound of his voice, all of her desire and frustration raged to the surface, and when her blue eyes lifted to his they were burning with a cold, _cold_ fire. "Just fine - until you showed up with your little lap-dancer." The angry words were out of her mouth before she could even consider them.
He almost stepped back away from the iciness of her tone and stare. Birigundi had never seen Nialyn like that. "What? What's the matter? Did I do something wrong?"
"_No_, Birigundi. Of course not. Everything's just _fine_," she replied, bitterly, sarcastically, and she punctuated her words by slamming one napkin down on top of the other. Picking the stack up, she took a step back, frustrated tears welling in her eyes. His complete lack of understanding made her even angrier.
"It's not anything about the baby, is it?" He frowned in his concern and confusion. Just what had gotten into her all of a sudden?
"No, Birigundi. It's not." Nialyn glanced over his shoulder and saw that sharding young woman come slinking back over. The lump in her throat got bigger and she took another step back, dropping her eyes. "Just forget it."
Birigundi was about to say something when he felt a hand slip into his. "Come on, Biri, I've got the wine. And a little something extra special for you upstairs."
"Yeah, I'm coming," he muttered over his shoulder. Birigundi turned confused eyes back to Nialyn. "We can talk about this later?"
Knowing that he was leaving her just to go have sex with that sharding woman made her stomach churn. Feeling sick, she glared at him through the glaze of her tears. "You mean when you actually have..._time_?" She then shrugged a shoulder, stared pointedly at the young woman for just a moment before turning away, not knowing if she could hold back her tears anymore.
She needed to get out of there. She needed to escape.
"Oh shards," he muttered. Why _now_???
"What's her problem?" the young woman asked with a shake of her head.
"It's not her fault, she's gonna have a baby," Birigundi said defensively.
"The healers said she would have moodswings. But..." He watched after her a moment. "Shards, honey, I'm sorry, but I should go check on her."
"But Biri, I have the wine already. And I'm sure she's fine. Pregnant women have moodswings all the time. Come on..." she smiled, tugging at him. "And I have something upstairs I want to show you."
"Yeah, I know. I'm coming," he said with a sigh, but his heart just wasn't in it anymore. Nialyn seemed so _upset_...
