Characters: Kamira, U'kaiah
Description: Kamira tells U'kaiah all about her first flight - and a little something else, too.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 10, day 27 of Turn 3

Kamira came flying into U'kaiah's weyr without waiting for Tayanth to ask Kalamath if the bronzerider was alone. "U'kaiah! U'kaiah!" The young greenrider shouted from room to room. "Guess what!"

The bronzerider sat up to his elbows on his bed and grinned at the weyrling when she burst into his sleeping area. "You flew?"

The young greenrider stopped short and gave him a playful glare. "You shouldn't guess so well." She paused for a moment and recovered her exhilarated glow. "But yes, I FLEW!" She flung out her arms to emphasize her point.

}: _We_ flew. :{ Faylith corrected her rider in a pleased, but chiding tone.

"Sorry, I was watching," U'kaiah laughed. "One of the perks of being Weyrling staff." He patted the space next to him. "But tell me all about it anyway."

Kamira obediently came over and kneeled on the bed beside U'kaiah, too excited to sit. "Well, I was one of the last to go - because I was so nervous about it and wanted to see if I couldn't pick up a few pointers and tips from the others ahead of time; but as soon as I mounted Tayanth, I knew. I knew we'd do it. Together we rose into the air, a bit awkwardly, but wonderfully none-the-less, and entirely too soon we were on the ground again." She took a deep breath after rattling on like that with only one breath. "I can't wait until we can fly for real."

The bronzerider laid back against his pillows, interlacing his fingers behind his head and smiled up at her. "It won't be long now. You'll be flying before you know it."

"Faranth, it's amazing." The weyrling closed her eyes and smiled in a way that made it all too obvious that she was reliving her moment of glory over again. "It'll be strange to finally feel like a _real_
dragonrider."

"Are you kidding? It's the most natural feeling in the world," U'kaiah grinned. "You were born to be a dragonrider, and she was born to be flown by _you_."

Kamira took a moment to absorb U'kaiah's statement. Her radiant glow intensified and then she silently lay down next to the bronzerider, but left space between them. "I can't wait." She whispered.

He smiled as he rolled over on his side and propped his head up on his hand. "It will come soon enough. And then it will feel like you were never land bound."

The greenrider nodded in silence. Slowly, she shifted her eyes to meet U'kaiah's.

"What?" he asked, a slow smile spreading across his face as she searched his eyes.

Kamira returned the smile, a girlish sparkle in her dark eyes. "...
Nothing..." Her bit her lower lips slightly.

"Oh, come on Kamira, don't make me try to guess what's going on in that head of yours," he said with a teasing poke to her stomach.

"I was just thinking..." She decided that she'd draw things out a little.

"Yes, I gathered that much," the bronzerider chuckled. He knew she was toying with him, but he didn't seem to mind.

"I was just thinking that, " she took a deep breath, "I should be going before this gets going anywhere. Can't have you getting into trouble -
again." She winked and got up from the bed quickly.

U'kaiah's eyebrows shot up in surprise as he watched the greenrider shoot off his bed. "I wasn't going to try anything," he protested.
"I'm not _that_ stupid."

"I know." Kamira said honestly and simply. "But I'm not so sure I'm not. You are mighty tough to resist, you know..."

"Well," U'kaiah said with slightly guilty smile, "I can't say that the thought hadn't crossed my mind. More like, ran tearing and screaming though my mind."

Kamira giggled. "Then it's best that I leave. I'm already flying, jumps /between/ aren't far off now." She shuddered a little at the idea of going into the abyss of /between/ alone for the first time.

"I know," he grinned. "Do you think I would have allowed you to crawl up on my bed, knowing how much I wish you were available, if I hadn't known that you would be wearing that dress of yours for me soon?"

The young greenrider gave the elder bronze a very knowing look. "Good afternoon, U'kaiah." She turned and headed for the door.

"See you later Kamira," the bronzerider smiled, making no attempt to hide his admiration as he watched her move across the room.
