Description: F'lain introduces Gramth to his lover's blue.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 11, day 15 of Turn 3
F'lain rubbed the last of the oil into Gramth's hide with a smile. Now she looked perfect. He's told her that they were going to meet C'nitak and his blue and she was as anxious to see the pair as he was. She understood that the bluerider was important her hers but not why.
Techiproth backwinged in to land neatly on the beach. He had been careful not to kick up any sand, as C'nitak instructed. **Looks like Feli's oiling her. We wouldn't want to get grit stuck to the little beauty. He wants her to look her best for you.**
}:For me? Why? That green is barely Hatched. It will be a long while before she's ready to fly.:{ the blue informed his rider patiently.
C'nitak chuckled as he swung his leg over and slid down the blue hide.
**Ah, but it's never too early to get on her good side. She will fly one day, my friend. And you will be the one to catch her.** He was determined of that.
"My my, she _is_ a beauty, F'lain," the bluerider grinned as he put a gentle hand on the weyrling's shoulder.
Gramth cooed in thanks, butting the bluerider with her head, she looked up at the large blue. }:Hello, I'm Gramth, your rider is nice.:{ her tone was light and friendly.
"Believe me, she knows how beautiful she is. I make sure to tell her several times a day." He smiled at his friend. It was easier to remeber that it would only be a little while during to day. "What's Techiproth say?"
"Oh he says she's too young for him," C'nitak chuckled. "But I reminded him that someday she'll be just right."
"She says that both of you are nice." He smiled. He was looking forward to the day that Gramth was old enough to fly.
"Well, that bodes well," the bluerider said with an approving smile.
"C'ntiak? What was blooding like?" he knew they had a way to go, but he'd heard the senior weyrling talking.
"It's frightening. Probably the scariest thing I had ever been through in my life. That first moment you look Thread in the face... Well, you never forget it."
"All right, we've got a ways to go though. I won't worry about until then." the last was more for himself. Gramth interrupted. }:I'm sleepy:{ "I shouldn't worry. It's a right of passage, but one I'm sure your little Gramth will see you through." Shards, though, C'nitak wasn't oblivious to the possibilities...
"Hey, if you two can make there's no doubt we can." he teased.
"Oh really?" C'nitak laughed as he picked up an oily rag and threw it at F'lain. "You think you're so tough, huh?"
"Tougher than you, and she'll be faster than he is." he ducked.
"But he will be fast enough to catch her when the moment comes," the bluerider grinned.
"Only if she lets him." his tone was haughty. "He'll have to earn her."
"Well, who's to say he would be interested in chasing her?" C'nitak said with an indifferent shrug. "There are plenty of greens out there for him to chase after."
"I've never know him to turn down a chase, and I know he'll be first off the ground because you'll be encouraging him"
"Oh? And why would I do that?" he asked with a teasing smile.
"When she's older, I'll remind you." he replied sweetly.
"Well, she'll let him," C'nitak said with a confident smile. "You'll be encouraging her too."
"Isn't it her choice though? How much influence will I really have?"
C'nitak shrugged. "That I really can't tell you. No matter much I try to influence Techiproth, sometimes we still lose." He gave F'lain a little teasing wink. "But I suppose it depends on if she likes who you like too."
"Then we better make sure, they like each other, wouldn't you say?"
"Seems like they're getting along well enough so far," the bluerider grinned. "Seems like your little Gramth is asking Techiproth all kinds of interesting questions."
F'lain groaned, "That's all she ever does, why, why, why?"
"Don't worry, they grow out of it. And besides, it gives her and Techiproth a chance to get to know each other. That can only be a good thing," the bluerider reassured him, reaching out to give his shoulder a gentle squeeze.
"Your right about that. Did you know she quizzes the weyrlingmasters bronze?"
C'nitak chuckled. "Mine did that a few times. It freed me up for classes at least."
"True, true."
"This phase doesn't last forever," the bluerider reassured him. "And before you know it you'll be flying."
"Then she will." he smiled.
C'nitak grinned. What a wonderful event to look forward to.
