A Hearty Bit of Exercise

Writers: Avery, Heather
Date Posted: 18th February 2019

Characters: K'lvin, Riveenata
Description: Riveenata looks for K'lvin after Panitath's flight to "check on his heart"
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 20 of Turn 9

Goldflights affected the entire Weyr, especially when it was the
flight of the senior gold. It was most noticeable on the participants
of the chase, of course, the bronzes who vied for the position as the
leader and the senior queen who would make the decision. Riveenata
wanted to know who would catch Panitath, if the established pattern
would hold or if a River Bluff bronze would score a win and upend the
order here. She asked Savith to keep an eye on the chasers and tell
her about the winner, and then she was intending to go about the rest
of her day. But the green interrupted her with news that surprised
her.

}:Xmrenth chases!:{ the green informed her rider. She wasn't jealous
of it like one of the golds would be but she knew that her rider cared
a lot about Xmrenth's rider and the green was affectionate to the
bronze.

A feeling of worry rippled through her at that. The Healers had
cleared K'lvin for participating in flights and physical activity, as
she _well_ knew, since Xmrenth had flown Savith. (And so well, she
remembered, as her body reminded her of how his hands had skimmed down
her skin and dipped between her legs and - ) But greenflights were one
thing, short periods of physical activity. Goldflights were strenuous
on dragons and thus on their riders, and the winner would be
Weyrleader and fighting in Fall and K'lvin hadn't been cleared for
_that_ and...

It was concern that started her out towards the flight cots. She
wanted to be there as a Healer in case anything happened - with him,
or with _any_ of the bronzeriders, she told herself.

Even as Xmrenth dove for the Weyrlake, in an attempt to cool the
blood-pounding lust in his body, K'lvin came back to himself in a daze
that made him stumble. He touched a hand to his forehead as he tried
to gather himself but he found his pulse still hammered in time with
Xmrenth's as they tried to shake the lusty effects that Panitath's
rising had caused.

Dodging the other dragonriders, K'lvin made his way out into the
hallway, where hands waited to reach out and grab him. He was no
stranger to moths, but even in his lust-induced haze he wasn't sure if
he wanted to put himself through waking up with a stranger. The
bronzerider pushed away a few different pairs of hands and sets of
arms as he made to leave.

As the flight went on and chasers began to stumble out, she found
herself getting distracted from her intent, caught up in the lusty
mood it gave the Weyr. Oh, a goldflight wasn't completely
irresistible; it provided a general feeling and you could block it
with concentration or your own dragon bond if you weren't a chaser.
But she'd let the reflected dragonlust affect her enough to want to
moth before she'd Impressed Savith, had found then that it was a
pleasent heightener to the experience. Even now she felt a heat
stirring in hr body in response.

Noise spiked and she knew Panitath had been caught even before Savith
let her know. Riders began to stagger out of the area. She scanned the
bronzeriders, looking for K'lvin. Would he make it out all right? Woud
the stress of the flight have overtaxed his heart?

She dodged two men reaching for her as she waited, and then she saw
familiar figure, trying to push his way through the crowd. He appeared
to be walking as normally as one did after a flight, didn't look like
he was clutching at his heart. Another girl reached for him and she
tensed defensively, but he brushed her aside and kept making his way
away.

The greenrider pushed past another two moths. "K'lvin," she called, and
reached out to touch the bronzerider's arm.

It was hard to think or hear clearly in the small mob of bodies
swarming around the flight rooms, but there was a voice that cut
through the fog. K'lvin turned and his eyes locked with Riveenata.
What was she doing here? his brain wondered. Was she here... for him?
The lust that had already been raging in his body during the gold
flight came rising back to the surface as he looked into her light
blue eyes.

"Riveenata," his voice was rough and strained, as if all of his self
control hung in the balance.

She saw the look in his eyes, half glazed over and half wild like all
the bronzeriders seemed to be, caught up as they were in their
dragon's need. When she remembered what her flight had been like (the
way he'd kissed her, touched her, made her feel incredible), and when
she heard that voice graveled when directed at _her_, swept away the
control she'd been keeping on herself, turned her concern for him into
desire.

She stepped forward and tugged at his hands. "Come with me," she said.

K'lvin didn't think twice as he followed behind Riveenata, her smaller
hand seeming much cooler to the touch than his nearly feverish one. He
wasn't even entirely sure where they were going, a flight room, his
weyr? Landmarks passed by in a blur until the clicking of the door
closing echoed in his ears. **Riveenata.** Here he was, finding that
his desire for her was nearly overwhelming. Logically, in some part of
his brain, K'lvin knew the goldflight lust played a major factor, but
there was already a natural chemistry there between them that didn't
need coaxing to blaze.

His hands felt so hot against hers and his touch inflaming. She
didn't have the patience to go any further than to one of the flight
weyrs, down near the end and away from others. When the door was shut,
the greenrider reached out and kissed K'lvin.

Their lips crashed together and oh, if the kiss in the ocean had been
good, this was better. There was an intensity in the way their lips
met, the heat that kindled low in her belly. Was it just the way the
flight was affecting everyone, or was it more? She stepped close to
him, slid her hands up under his shirt, pressing them against his
chest to feel his heartbeat.

A tingle raced down K'lvin's spine at her touch, his own hands cupping
her face as he kissed her the way he'd really wanted to that
day in the ocean- without stopping. Their feet seemed to work in sync
as they backed their way over to the bed, the piece of furniture that
dominated the otherwise small room.

Breaking from the kiss suddenly, K'lvin stooped down and began
unlacing her boots, long fingers working quickly as he looked up at
her, eyes still smoldering hungrily. Tugging each shoe off, the bronze
rider tossed them over his shoulders and out of the way as he stood
back up, hands running the length of Riveenata's body and pulling her
shirt up and off in one fluid motion.

His heartbeat was strong under her hands and that reassured the
nervous Healer part of her enough that she could surrender to the
feelings of flightlust and give in to being just a young woman. A
young woman who was being thoroughly kissed. She shivered when his
calloused fingers pulled off her shirt and her chest was exposed to
the air, and reached down to unlace his pants. Shard his shirt, it could
stay on, if it had to.

The corner of K'lvin's mouth tipped as he realized why her hands had
been over his heart. "I'm fine," he assured her in her ear, lips
moving on to the curve of her neck.

"That's why I was here. To know you were safe," she said, dragged back
to why she had come here.

"You think you're fine? Prove it to me," she challenged, tilting her
head back to give him more access to her neck.

It was a challenge that K'lvin didn't mind accepting. The same way she
had when they'd been together after Savith's flight, Riveenata made
him feel strong, invincible even, especially when they were together
like this. Pulling back from her, only for a second, he ripped his
shirt over his head and then hooked his hands behind Riveenata's
thighs, and hiked her legs around his waist.

She groaned aloud and arched herself against him. Even through the
pants where they were wearing, she could feel the proof he wanted her.
Maybe the initial lust he had was just from Panitath's flight. But she
saw the way he was looking at her. She heard the tone he spoke to her
in. This couldn't just be flight lust, could it?

One of her hands slipped behind his neck and she gripped at it,
pricking the skin with her nails.

Depositing Riveenata onto the bed, K'lvin followed her body down with
his, one hand sliding between their intertwined bodies to open the
front of her breeches. As the lust from the goldflight reached its
peak, K'lvin found his fingers trembling from the effort it took not
to rip Riveenata out of her pants, but instead he pulled them down her
shapely legs and then took a moment to simply enjoy the way she
looked, lying there waiting for him. It was a moment he hadn't had the
first time they were together. Pushing his pants down his hips he
rejoined Riveenata, tracing one hand up the ladder of her ribcage and
to the delicious, soft swell of her breast.

Riveenata was burning up with desire for him, no longer aware of the
source, whether it was just her body's general reaction to the flight
or whether it was coming from how he touched her like a confident
bronzerider who already knew all a woman's pleasure spots or whether
it was from the way she herself was feeling about him in particular.
As he looked down at her, she tilted her head up to catch his eye -
which had the side effect of also baring her throat for him to claim.

Another time, she might have wanted to take it slower and try to seal
details into her memory. But with the need driving them both, she
couldn't think about 'slow' or 'savor'....

**Fade to black**

As the feeling ebbed some he released a shuddering exhale and then
dropped onto the mattress beside Riveenata, a sheen of sweat making
his skin glisten as he kept an arm wrapped about her waist, holding
her against him. "Riv," he murmured, pressing his lips to her hair an
inhaling her scent with a satisfied sigh.

"K'lvin," she said again, reaching up with one hand to brush her
fingertips against his face with a sweet tenderness at odds with the
wild passion they'd just shared.

"I didn't expect to see you outside the flight room," he said while
his racing heart began to finally subside into a normal rhythm once
again.

"I thought about you when Savith said she saw Xmrenth go up. I wanted
to make sure you were all right. And then Panitath's feelings caught
up to me and I didn't just want to check on you, I _wanted_ you."
She'd said a bit of it before but who remembered how much they spoke
during flights?

K'lvin was a bit surprised, and humbled, that she had worried about
him. "Well," he hesitated only a moment, "I am glad you found me."
Truly, even if it hadn't been her original intent to become his
flightmoth, and even if it had been largely due to Panitath's flight,
it had been a pleasure-filled experience regardless.

"Me, too," she murmured, yawning slightly, and shifting herself so her
head was on his chest. It was a little to hear his heartbeat and
reassure himself, and a little just to enjoy the feeling of resting
against him, like she hadn't really gotten to before. "This was
fantastic. And we're going to remember it, right?" she said, before
she could stop to think.

He smiled a little as he flicked one of the blankets over them,
content to lay there as long as she did. "It is nice to remember," he
agreed, although he felt that he remembered pretty well the bit of
time they had together after Savith's last flight.

Her hair was fanning across his chest and her fingers drifted up to
trail across his skin. "Were you looking for a moth? It wasn't
unwanted?"

"I wasn't looking for a moth but you were a welcome sight," he
admitted, fingers trailing through her hair.

"Well, I'm happy to see you again like this," she murmured. "It
was...so good. So right."

He was pleased to hear her say that."I agree. So there's no need for
us to act awkward around each other after this, right?"

"No reason. We're riders, this is how it works," she agreed.

K'lvin was relieved to hear that, he didn't like it when things were
off between them, not when she was quickly becoming one of his
favorite people to be around. This didn't have to mean anything and
then again it didn't also have to mean nothing. They could just let it
be and not analyze it.

Riveenata sighed and stretched out her arms further, continuing to run
her fingers along his skin. "I suppose we should get up soon," she
said, but then she yawned and snuggled her cheek into him. "Or we
could lounge..." her voice tracing off, as though she was hoping for
permission to laze.

"Let's relax for a few more minutes," he agreed, content to just be
with her. He and Bahji had often napped and lounged together,
comfortable to simply be tangled together for a while. It was nice to
have someone to do that with again.

She turned her head slightly to bury her face against his chest, and
hummed very softly as she did. "Thank you," she murmured very softly.
