A Friendly Chat

Writers: Roxanne, Dana
Date Posted: 31st March 2006

Characters: Jyramikah, Traelyn
Description: The Weyrwoman and Weyrwoman Second share some klah and a chat
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 10, day 3 of Turn 3

Jyramikah had decided that she truly liked Traelyn and didn't like the way
many in the Weyr were treating her. They were even having problems in
their own wing and she was the one currently leading it. Things seemed to
have calmed down after Traelyn made it clear that if there were anymore
problems those involved would be grounded. She was having breakfast with
the Weyrwoman to go over a few things before the day's drills.

}:You're not going to want a ride are you?.:{ Ikoladith asked from the
ledge where she was taking in the warmth of the rising sun.

**You'd give me one if I needed it, wouldn't you?** she replied as she
finished lacing up her boots. It wasn't like she couldn't use the stairs
from time to time. Unless they were going to drills or to the beach, she
usually walked wherever she was going.

}:Of course, but the sun feels good.:{

**I'll be back after a while. Let me know if you're going to be someplace
else.**

}:Don't I always tell you where I'll be?:{

**Yes, now enjoy your sun.** Jyramikah said with a soft laugh. She left
the gold to her sunning and headed off to find Traelyn.

The dining hall wasn't that crowded, so it was easy to spot her fellow
goldrider. "Good morning, Traelyn." she said as she slid into the empty
seat across from the Weyrwoman.

"Good morning, Jyra," she smiled, a bit relieved to see a friendly face in
the crowded cavern. "How are you?"

"I'm doing fine. How're you?"

That was the question, wasn't it? "I'm hanging in there." She grinned
slightly. "Despite everything. I haven't heard any more complaints
coming from the Wing." Her eyes darkened a little. "I'm assuming they're
not giving you any more trouble?"

"That's good. Thankfully, they're not. I don't understand what has gotten
into the Weyr lately." she replied pouring herself a mug of klah.

"I keep telling myself things will start to look up." Traelyn took a long
sip of her sweetened klah. "And they will. I know it. But sometimes...
Sometimes it's just hard." She gave Jyramikah a small smile.

"I know what you mean. Are you and J'darin getting along any better?" she
asked knowing that it helped to have an agreeable working partner.

Traelyn took another sip of her klah before replying softly, "Yes. It's
been better." Working-wise, at least. They hadn't spent much time alone
outside their offices ever since their arguement last month.
Shards...that had been terrible. "We're looking forward to the Hatching.
J'darin is even more excited than I am, I think," she chuckled, grinning a
little. "With this clutch being Hasaarth's first."

"That is always an exciting event. I know that Hasaarth has come close to
catching Ikoladith on several occassions, so I am happy for him. He's a
really great guy if you ignore his gruffness at times." she said with a
grin. She was friends with him for more than one reason, but he had his
quirks as did everyone.

Gruffness. Well, that was one way to describe it. Traelyn offered her a
smile. "You know him well?"

"I've known him for quite awhile, we've become friends."

The Weyrwoman looked down at her mug. "Men, I've learned, can almost be
better friends to women than other women."

"I have to agree with you on that. A majority of my favorite greenriders
are men." Jyramikah replied with a laugh.

Traelyn grinned at her. "They're a lot less prickly than the female ones
can be!"

"That they are. I should probably get going. Ikoladith was demanding a
bath and I wanted to get in a swim before drills today. Let me know if
there's anything I can suggest that J'darin do differently when working
with you."

"Thanks, Jyra. I will."

"You're welcome." was her reply as she headed to bathe her gold and enjoy
the water before she had to get started on the day's duties. She made a
note to chat with her Weyrwoman more often as she was really starting to
like Traelyn.
