Description: G'nir and Rorela have a serious talk
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 10, day 25 of Turn 9
Freed from the infirmary, but on light duty until fully healed, Rorela
returned to her weyr still lightly bandaged from the Fall. The evening
air was blissfully cool in her weyr and ther moment she could, she
unbuttoned her top and tossed it into the basket. Even the touch of
the shirt chafed the mostly-healed minor scores on her shoulders and
the bandaging was enough to cover the soon-to-be-scars over her
breasts and belly. She didn't need the shirt in her own weyr anyway.
She laid down the supplies of extra bandages and numbweed on her
table, feeling more tired than relieved to be in her own space. She
considered making her way to Harki's weyr for company, then changed
her mind. With a sigh, she sat in a chair, stretching out her legs.
}: Can we come and join you in your weyr? Mine is bringing gifts, :{
Nirreth asked with oddly formal tone from the green.
G'nir indeed had flowers and wine they had just bought from Vintner Hall.
At the message from Upinth, Rorela sat up a bit. **Gifts? From G'nir?**
}: Mine says yes. I think she is curious. :{
Soon enough, Nirreth landed on Upinth's ledge and G'nir dismounted.
"Rorela? I heard they've released you from infirmary. How are you feeling?"
"Better. I'm a bit sore but.." She rose, going to meet him and then
paused at what he held in his hands, her eyes widening. Flowers? And
her favorite bottle? How had he known? Her mouth parted in surprise,
her eyes widening. "That's for me?"
"No, they are for Upinth," G*nir wasn't very good at joking and it
came out sounding awkward.
The awkwardness just made her smile. He really was trying. "Well she
doesn't like wine, but I do." Approaching him, she took the bundle
from his hands and then stood on tiptoe to brush her lips across his.
"Thank you. "
"You're welcome," G'nir replied and quickly brushed her face with his
now freed hand. He wanted to hug her but wasn't sure if her injuries
allowed it. Instead of confident, a middle aged bronzerider, he was
feeling like a clumpsy teenager.
Her eyes were warm. "Come on in. I don't think you've ever been in
here, have you?" She led him inside her weyr, tiny compared to his,
but mostly neat. There was a bit of clutter on the cabinets but she
liked it. She set the bottle on the table and then finding another
bottle that she'd kept simply because it was pretty, she filled it
with water and placed the flowers within. Burying her face in the
blossoms, she inhaled. "These are beautiful. "
"No, we usually meet at my weyr, my office or some public place,"
G'nir said and looked around.
"Nothing's going to jump out at you, I promise. Go ahead and have a
seat. " Her brows rose, and her eyes glinted playfully. "Unless you
were thinking of something else, but honestly, I don't know how much
I'm really up for yet."
"I honestly didn't know what to expect," G'nir replied and took the
offered seat.
As soon as he settled in the seat, Rorela chose her favorite spot,
directly on his lap. But this time she didn't straddle him, instead
choosing to sit across, nestled with her side against his chest .
Sometimes, she thought, it was good to be small. "I don't _always_
want to jump you. Just most of the time. "
"I kind of like it when you jump on me. Reminds me that life isn't
just cut- and-dried. I tend to take things for granted and get
complacent," G'nir replied.
She grinned and lightly kissed his jaw. "And you like it because it
can be just a bit naughty. But you'd better not take me for granted,
dragonman. I'll get a stool and kick your butt."
"Feel free, who knows, maybe I'll enjoy it," G'nir said and kissed her
lightly back. "When I heard you've been Scored..." he had to pause
before continued. "I got scared, scared I'd lose you too. Made me
realize how much you mean to me."
She grinned as he bantered back to her. He was getting better at it,
she decided, then smiled against his mouth as he returned the kiss.
When he started getting serious, however, she went still on his lap
and just looked at him. "We all get scored eventually, G'nir." She
looked down at her bare chest and abdomen, still covered by the
remaining bandages. "I'm alright. I'll heal. And then I'll go back to
driving you out of your mind as much as possible. " Her smile was
crooked and laid a hand on his cheek. "I'm sorry I scared you."
"Don't be, it's not your fault," G'nir replied gently. "I do love you.
Faranth knows how bad I am at expressing it, and I don't let people
get truly close to me. But you managed to do it."
Her eyes widened as she listened to him. When she'd set out on this
with him, after turns of trying to finally get him to notice her,
she'd never imagined he'd ever tell her that. That he'd ever feel
that way about her. When she was in the infirmary, she'd thought he
wasn't serious, but now? Looking him right in the eye? She knew that
he was. "But...I thought it was Hygalia. It was her for turns. "
"I did love her, and see what happened? I never told her, she left; I
broke my heart. I won't do that mistake again," G'nir replied.
"I can't pine after her forever."
"No, you can't and you shouldn't. " she leaned against him, her brow
furrowed, but her hand stayed on his cheek. "G'nir, I'm not ready to
say that yet. I want to spend more time with you, not chasing you, and
not just in bed." Her lips parted in a quick wry grin, "or on your
desk." Her thumb stroked his cheek. "I'm not going to say that just to
say it. I... want to, I really do. But I need to be sure that I
really mean it, that I'm absolutely certain. Because, you know me, I
don't do things halfway. " Her hand trailed down to his lips. "Once
I'm all healed up, can you do something for me?"
"Anything," G'nir replied. He could understand why she hesitated. He
didn't exactly have a good track record of stable relationships. Only
once he had been in anything resembling serious weyrmating and she had
died while giving birth to his daughter.
"When I'm all healed up," she kissed his jaw again, "can we have a
real romantic dinner outside of the Weyr? Just us? No interruptions
and no worries about anything else?"
"Sounds good to me. Any wishes concerning the location?" G'nir asked.
He knew couple of nice taverns in Beryl Plains area. He just had to
pick one where he was unlikely to ran into a relative. Of course,
there was also the Vintner Hall's tavern, much closer to home. Which
meant lot of other Dragonfalls' riders around.
"No. I'll leave that up to you." She snuggled closer to his chest with
a smile. "But I do expect some passionate lovemaking to follow dinner."
Rorela laid her cheek against his shoulder. "I do like your arms
around me, bronze man."
"I like holding you in my arms, greenrider," G'nir replied.
