Description: Sh'vair is getting some tough questions from his lifemate that Nocte helps him with

Date: month 11, day 25 of Turn 3

"Excuse me, Notce?" Sh'vair asked as the greenrider walked by. "Can I ask you to give me a hand here for just a moment?"

Nocte turned with a smile, "Not a problem. I'm happy to help."

"Well, it's Nidogath. He's been asking me questions that I'm just not sure how I should answer. He's... well, a bit young to be asking about such things," the blue's weyrling said with a little blush.

"Well, I'll be happy to help in any way I can. It's natural for them to be curious. You also have to be careful because they pick up on your thoughts." She smiled as she sat down next to the pair. "Now lets see what we can do to help him out. Quylith will help to. She enjoys helping the little ones."

"Good," the weyrling smiled. "Because I don't know what to tell him when he asks me why greens fly and others chase..."

Nocte smiled. She had dealt with this at least twice before. "Perhaps we can steer his mind from that with other things. He is a bit young for that long explanation." "Yes, but he has so many questions. If I try to ignore them, they will just come up again."

"Hang on I know how to deal with this. Nidogath, When a dragon grows up they get to learn new secrets. Just like little dragons have secrets so do big ones. The reason behind the game of chase is a secret meant for big dragons. When you grow up you will learn all about it. For now lets worry about the things that will help you grow up. Your tasks is to grow and keep your young rider out of trouble. Think you can do it?"

}:I don't have secrets. I tell you everything,:{ the little blue said as he turned his eyes on his rider. }:Why do big dragons keep secrets?:{
**Because then you wouldn't have something to look forward to when you are a big dragon,** Sh'vair replied.

}:But if the big dragons told me their secret, I wouldn't tell anyone,:{ the little blue replied.

His rider sighed. **Ok, I'll tell you what. Just wait a few days and ask me again. I'll see if I can find out the big dragon's secret for you.** And hopefully by then Nidogath's natural short-term memory would help him forget to ask...

}:I guess I can wait,:{ he replied sullenly. "I think Nidogath and I will talk about it again in a few days, if he reminds me." The weyrling gave Nocte a quick wink, hoping she would understand his idea.

Nocte chuckled. "Any other questions?"

"No, I think we took care of this one for now," Sh'vair said giving Nidogath's eyeridge an affectionate scratch. "Thank you for your help, Notce."

"Good, if you need anything or have more questions, just have Nidogath bespeak Quylith. And don't worry, as they get older the questions do slow down, but never stop." She smiled as she thought of the times Quylith had asked why she leaks from her eyes.
