Lenala

Lenala

Lenala was waiting for M'galec when he returned to the weyr, dressed in her finest robe and curled up on the couch with her feet tucked daintily under her and a book propped on one leg. She looked up and met him with a smile when he walked in, though her eyes were clouded with doubt. "Another emergency?" she asked lightly.

"A meeting," he answered semi-honestly. "A rather long meeting." M'galec had practiced that excuse all the way back to their weyr. And it wasn't a _lie_ exactly. Abrei had called him in for a meeting. Before she _threw_
herself on him. He gave Lenala what he thought would be a tired smile and walked towards their sleeping area. "I think I am going to bed early tonight, my love. It has been a rather long day."

The goldrider couldn't hide her disappointment as she let the book slide from her lap and turned to follow his progress. "I was hoping we'd get a chance to spend some time together."

"I am sorry dear," he said over his shoulder. "I am just so tired tonight."
The bronzerider turned in the door of their sleeping chamber and gave her a half-hearted smile, not quite lifting his eyes to meet hers. "But tomorrow night I will not be so late. We can spend time together then." He disappeared inside the door and hurried over to their closet to find a sleeping shirt that would cover the marks Abrei had left.

Lenala marked her page in her book and followed him, coming through the door a few moments after he'd pulled the new shirt over his head. "Is everything all right?" He really _did_ look tired.

"Yes of course," he said pulling at his shirt self-consciously. "Just tired, is all." M'galec walked over and gave her a quick peck on the lips before walking over to turn down the lights. "Tomorrow I will be in much better spirits, I am sure." "Maybe I could cheer you up a little tonight." She slid an arm around his waist as he walked back towards the bed, pulling him down for a more lingering kiss. He hadn't realized just how bruised and sore his lips were from his dueling kisses with Abrei until Lenala's lips were touching his own. M'galec pulled back painfully, guiltily. "Thank you, Lenala. I know you mean well, but truly. I just cannot do you justice tonight. I am too tired. Truly. I am sorry. Tomorrow night, I swear."

Lenala's eyes narrowed as she studied his face. "Are you sure you're all right? Did you hurt yourself?"

"Please, love, I am so tired. I had weyrlings all day and then a full shift in the infirmary and I just really could use a night to sleep. Tomorrow, please. We can talk about it tomorrow." He walked over to the bed and slipped under the covers before she could study him too closely.

"We need to talk about Abrei shortening your shifts then," she said firmly, sliding into the bed next to him and propping herself up on one elbow so she could look down at him. "You crawl in here every night so tired you can't do anything but go to sleep... and you're not acting like yourself tonight, M'galec. I know you're tired, but you're worrying me." "And _I_ said we will discuss this tomorrow," M'galec snapped back, finally reaching the end of his already sensitive nerves. "Am I not _allowed_ to be tired juggling two equally important responsibilities? Am I not _allowed_ to decide that I do not want to have sex with you every time you feel the whim?
Lenala, I just want to sleep. It has been a long day and your whining and nagging is not helping me. Enough!"

Lenala's mouth fell open and she gaped at him in surprise which quickly turned to anger. "I was _worried_ about you," she snapped angrily, refusing to let him end their discussion by yelling at her. "You let Abrei work you into the ground when there are other healers... healers who _don't_ have to chase after weyrlings all day long! It's not right!" "Master Abrei has never demanded anything of me that _I_ was not willing to do!" Oh shards. He really stepped in that one... M'galec turned away from her and closed his eyes, trying to end the conversation and save himself from digging himself any deeper.

"Of course not," Lenala replied nastily, glaring at his back. "Wonderful _Master Abrei_ would never ask you for anything you don't want to do. If my demands are so unwelcome compared to hers, perhaps you should spend your _nights_ with her as well as your evenings and afternoons!" "Perhaps I should!" he roared picking up his pillow and scooting off the other side of the bed. "Perhaps then I could get a little sleep without a goldrider acting as if _she_ ruled the weyr! You may outrank me outside that door, Lenala, but not in here! Not in _here_!" The bronzerider stormed out of their sleeping room and towards the little sofa in their living area. He would not take _that_ from his weyrmate, no matter _what_
he did!
