She took several long breaths and turned sideways on the couch to put
her feet up before having Panitath ask N'vanik to come see her.

Loseth conveyed that Panitath's rider was upset, so N'vanik hurried
over to her weyr. "Hey. What's going on?"

"You probably knew Saibra was just here," she started and took a deep
breath. "Seems my daughter decided to go create mayhem at Dragons
Fall." She took a deep breath and visibly calmed herself as a croon of
a concerned gold floated in from her ledge. Her eyes glistened, "I
honestly don't know where this is coming from." She closed her eyes
for a moment and patted the couch next to her.

N'vanik frowned and took a seat. Loseth had mentioned the Dragonsfall
Queen had been here, but Cyradis chatted with the Weyrwoman sometimes
so he hadn't thought much of it. "What happened?"

"I guess Naradis got K'don to take her to Dragonsfall to talk to
Kadira. They had harsh words and Chioneth practically had to sit on
her little blue to keep him from /betweening/. "Okay," she said
under her breath. "Okay," she stopped. When she started saying 'Okay'
to herself over and over she knew she was near a breaking point. "I...
um... need you here when I talk to her. I need to stay calm."

N'vanik put a hand on her leg, trying to process what he'd heard.
"Hey. Nobody was actually hurt, right?" If a weyrling had been upset
enough that he almost went /between/ . . .

"Right," she nodded and her hand covered N'vanik's bigger one. She
rocked back and forth a little. "I just don't know if I should address
this as her mother or her Weyrwoman. Maybe even a mix of both."

"Might be hard to separate them out." He tried to imagine what he'd do
if Cosani scorched things this bad. "But I think you have to be
Weyrwoman first."

She turned her dark eyes to his. She'd never show her vulnerability to
any but a very few and N'vanik was one of those few now. Of course it
hadn't started that way, she half smiled remembering the day they
first met. He and Qorri had thought to cage her. It hadn't worked out
well for any of them. "Thank you," she said.

N'vanik shook his head. "Can't believe you're asking _me_ to be the calm one."

"That's because she doesn't know your buttons. She does know mine. She
fights dirty which is why I believe what K'don and Saibra told me."
She sighed. "Of course I want to give her the benefit of the doubt but
at this point I really can't afford to. She will certainly try to
make it _my_ fault somehow." She smiled sadly. "Much as I can't stand
him, I might want to invite N'lon. How do you feel about that?"

The Weyrleader arched an eyebrow. "I thought you said you wanted to be calm?"

She half smiled. "He won't be angry with _me_," she said. "Naradis
needs to be reminded there are others in the world who can be nastier
than she can. I have protected her for Turns. But that protection is
at an end if she shows no remorse."

"So you want him to be the bad guy, and you can be the Weyrwoman who
has to reprimand a Candidate?"

"But he does it so well," she shrugged with a tilt to her head.

That got a little chuckle out of him. "I think we should talk to her
first, because this _is_ a Weyr discipline issue. Even worse, because
she caused trouble at another Weyr." Just what had gotten into that
kid's head?

“Alright,” she said nodding. “In this you get to be the boss of me.”
She smiled though her stomach was doing a bit of complaining.

"I finally get to boss around the Weyrwoman?" He smiled at her. "When
you're ready, we can call her in. Use the council room to emphasize
it's official. And then right before we dismiss her, you can hit her
with 'I'm going to contact your father about this'."

She held up a finger, "Don't get used to it." she grinned then nodded.
"Good idea."
