Dawyn was working on his project in his workshop. His new firelizard had found a warm place for a nap. She was curled up at the top of the oven where the ceramics were glazed. Dawyn was whistling when he inpected the final product for flaws. Daynar knocked once on the door to Dawyn's workshop before stepping in slowly. "ho, Dawyn! I wanted to see how your latest creation turned out.' The Hallmaster's face was pleasant, even smiling, and he did not notice the flit right away. "Good day, hallmaster. The new glazing method seems to turn out just fine," Dawyn greeted. The voices woke up Chaldona and she peeked her head down from her perch.
Daynar was aborbed in looked at product in front of him, eyeing the new glazing. He still didn't see Chaldona, but when he leaned closer he realized he was poking his head next to something that moved. He stared. There was silence for the space of a few heartbeats. "Journeyman Dawyn. Please tell me that is not a fire lizard on the top of the oven." "Erh, I believe it is a firelizard, not enough fur to be a feline,"
Dawyn replied uneasily. He was well aware what the hallmaster thought about firelizards. Usually she stayed with Keles's flits, but sometimes, when Dawyn worked alone, she just appeared to keep him company. "Sharding girl and her gold flit!!" He swore, blowing out his breath.
"She even got to _you_? I can't forbid you your fire lizard in your own workshop, Journeyman. But I am disappointed that you would take one of those lousy creatures. Get a canine instead!" He said, still growling almost like his own canine, Scrap. "I don't have time to take care of canine. Chaldona pretty much takes care of herself," Dawyn replied. Sometimes she also left little pawnprints it to the soft clay.... "Just have a care, Journeyman! Do not let her poke her delicate little head into your work. And don't let me see you with her in the Halls!"
The Hallmaster huffed and crossed his arms. "Sharding Girl!" He said again, blustering. "I try to make her stay home. And she's not a sharding girl," Dawyn said, scratching the flit fondly. "I wasn't talking about your sharding green flit, Dawyn. But my fool of a fosterling that has a gold, and no doubt gave out eggs to my folk despite me saying NO fire lizards." Irate at Dawyn, who had been someone he was very proud of, he went on. "don't let me catch you with her in the main work room or halls with her! I'll leave you alone with your 'darling'." He shook his head again. His Hall was rebelling around him at every turn. "Yes, Master," Dawyn said respectably, not wanting to anger the hallmaster more. Daynar swore again and just stalked away from his Journeyman, anger boiling off of him in waves. That's it! She was going back to Fielton! Dawyn let out a sigh of relief when the hallmaster left. "Why don't you go outside to play with your friends?" he suggested the flit and pictured open sky in his mind. But Chaldona didn't want to, instead she retured to the top of the owen and curled up to continue her sleep.
