"Well, Wingleader, sir," R'sedel grinned as U'das emerged into the sunlight, "You look dressed and ready to char some Thread."
"R'sedel," U'das nodded his head in a greeting. "So do you." "Yes, I figured I'd dress in my best riding jacket just in case some handsome holder was in need of rescuing," the greenrider chuckled. "Did you have your nice long pre-Fall meeting? Shards, I must say, I'm lucky to just be a rank and file man. You bronze and brownriders just love your meetings."
"No, we don't love our meetings, we just tolerate them. They the nessessary evil, come with the responsibility," U'das answered good-naturedly. "Personally, I think all that responsibility is highly over-rated. Too much work with too little reward." R'sedel had watched his father work all his life. His life was so full of responsibility, sometimes he forgot to let loose and just have fun. Hopefully his new lover and baby would help take care of that.
"Well, that's why you don't ride a bronze. That and the other obvious reason too," U'das grinned.
R'sedel looked at him with mock shock. "Why, wingleader, are you telling me that I'm _obvious_? Well, that certainly does explain why so many Holders look at me funny when I'm on Search. And here I thought I had been hiding it _so_ well!"
U'das just had to laugh. "You're something, you know that?" "Oh, that's what all the men say," R'sedel winked. "I don't suppose there's even the barest hint of blue under all that bronze exterior, is there?"
"Absolutely not!" the Wingleader looked horrified.
"Ah, it is a pity," the greenrider said with an exaggerated sigh. "You know, all the bronzerider's say that. I keep hoping that just _one_
time..." The irreverent grin on R'sedel's face was full of good humored teasing. It was fun watching them squirm sometimes...
"You are one outrageous greenrider," U'das accused him. "Indeed, I am, Wingleader," he chuckled. "You would never think my father sired me, would you."
"No, you wouldn't," U'das agreed. "You sure you mother weren't mistaken?" "It's the smile and the chin that gives it away," R'sedel replied, giving the rider his best impression of his father's smile. "Though he doesn't show it nearly enough for people to notice."
"Well, the familytree sometimes carries different fruits, " U'das said, remembering his own children and how different they were to each other.
"I'm not so sure our tree doesn't carry whole other _species_ at times."
A certain wingsecond brother came to mind. "But most aren't bad. Wonderful in fact. And even the rotten fruit seems to carry good seeds." He couldn't help but admit that K'reyel's daughters were so _adorable_! And they just adored their greenrider uncle as well.
"Yeah, well, whatever," U'das shrugged, not knowing his familytree all that well. "Seems everyone's here. I suppose I shouldn't keep you," R'sedel sighed, tugging on his rider helmet. "Let's char us some Thread!"
"Let's!" U'das answered.
