The Spark is Fleeting (2/2)

Writers: Aaron, Sia
Date Posted: 4th April 2025

Characters: E'tariax, S'kand
Description: Kariskan reminds S’kand of an episode from his past, wherein E’tariax and S’kand had an absolutely amazing time during Aphirith’s first flight, but they find the spark just isn’t there when they give it another shot without the dragons.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 3, day 11 of Turn 12

For all his awkward youth, S'kand was, at least, pleasant company. An idea crossed E'tariax's mind about halfway through dinner, one that S'kand certainly didn't deserve despite his transgressions. That his _first_ greenflight was enough to make a bronzerider question himself was infinitely amusing, and he was determined to see how far the other man would go to test his curiosity.

"All right, big guy." He said as the door to his weyr closed. "Ravish me."

S’kand could not help but laugh. It was not as though that was not what he had come there to do-- at least, he had hoped to ravish him, not to utterly destroy him. He did hope to come back again for a repeat performance, after all, if it was just as good as the first time.

“Don’t mind if I do.” S’kand intended it to be a sort of sexy carrying-him-across-the-threshold moment, but E’tariax was not a tiny blushing bride, and what ended up happening bore a much more striking resemblance to the over-the-shoulders guardsman’s carry they had learned in weyrling training to move injured riders in an emergency.

At the very least, he managed to put him down within striking distance of gently onto his bed.

He went in for a kiss. And it was not… bad, exactly. But it did not light the same fire inside him that kissing a woman did. Still, he was going to do his level best to make it good for E’tariax.

Ah yes, nothing sexier than getting lifted and tossed like a sack of firestone. S'kand wasn't particularly gentle, and the mouth against his was…lackluster, at best. He snaked his hand to the back of the bronzerider's neck, rooting him in place as his teeth grazed S'kand's lower lip. Testing the waters, as it were.

Oh. S’kand did not mind a lover who took a little bit of control. That was good. It helped to know what E’tariax wanted. Right?

He tried to put more… gusto in it? Was that the right word? There was something missing. He had to find it before E’tariax got bored, or else they would never get to the, ah, main event, as it were.

And yet. A few seconds later, S’kand paused.

“I’m not making it work for you, am I?”

E'tariax huffed a laugh and leaned his head back against the furs. "No, but in your defense, you weren't going to."

S'kand rolled over to sit beside E’tariax on the bed.

“I’m… not your type at all?” S’kand could not say he was ‘physically attracted’ to E’tariax. Unless wanting to recreate what they did during the flight counted as physical attraction. But that did not mean it did not sting a little to hear the same aloud about himself.

"I'm sure you're a handsome man." E'tariax said. "And I see the appeal of being attracted to me. But despite what Aphirith wants to lead you to believe, I'm also not generally attracted to men."

“Oh! Well, then it's not _just_ me, then. That's a bit of a relief.” S’kand chuckled. He never would have guessed that a greenrider would not be generally attracted to men. But then again, he had been willing to entertain the idea that he, himself, might be-- and he was a bronzerider. But it was just the flight, after all.

But what a flight it was!

“Well, uh… since this probably isn’t going anywhere, you wanna grab a pint?”

[End flashback]

Ah, well. Maybe Kariskan’s attitude had not come from nowhere after all.
