Description: Jyramikah and Z'al talk briefly after the flight.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 11, day 12 of Turn 3
Jyramikah vaguely remembered the events of the morning and wasn't quite ready to find out who the winner of the flight had been. She wouldn't have minded going to bed with any of the men, but it was always harder when she never knew who she would wind up in bed with. They must have slept half the day away by now as it had barely been morning when her gold had risen.
**Ikoladith, who won the flight?** she asked curious, but nervous at the same time.
}:Nyinth.:{ she replied sleepily. She was very content with her mate and hoped that her rider was as well.
**Nyinth....** she repeated trying to remember the rider's name. He was a brown, she remembered that much. **Do you know his rider's name?** she inquired hopefully.
}:Z'al.:{ the gold supplied.
**Oh!** was all she could think of.
Just then, the brownrider began to stir. She composed herself and tried to remember everything she knew about the young rider.
Z'al looked at the shoulder in front of him. He knew it wasn't his Kirra. That was the one thing he knew for sure. It all came back to him and he was worried. He knew Kirra had said she would live with it if Nyinth won anothers flight, but how would she feel about him winning a goldrider's dragon. He didn't want to hurt this rider if he just got up and left so he gently caressed her hair absently as he tried to figure out what to do.
"Good afternoon, Z'al." she said feeling his hand against her hair. She wondered if he felt as akward as she did at the moment. She couldn't simply tell him to leave, but she wasn't going to ask him if he'd like to stay either. They'd have to deal with the issue sooner or later, so now was just as good a time.
"Good afternoon. I'm not sure what I am to do now. I... this is the first time Nyinth has actualy caught, during a flight. I don't wish to be thought rude or forthright...." he stammered a bit.
She smiled remembering the first time that Ikoladith had risen to mate. She understood his concerns quite well as she had felt them before turns ago. "You don't have to stay if you don't want to. I was going to have some food sent up as I am starving." she replied as her stomach began to rumble in agreement with her thought.
He sat up slowly and disintagled himself. He started dressing as he thought of how best to say what he wanted to say. As he pulled his shirt on he sighed. "I have a weyrmate that may be hurt by this. I don't want to hurt her further by staying to long. She means a lot to me and I..." He didn't want to anger her but Kirra would be wondering what had happened.
"I see. Is she a rider?" Jyramikah asked curiously. Unless she was a recent holdbred or craftbred arrival to the Weyr, then the young woman would certainly have understood what had occured earlier as gold flights had a tendency to affect the entire weyr population.
"She's a candidate. I'm sure she knows about it, it's just that I'm not sure how she will take it." He said appologetically.
"Ah, it is something that all couples have to come to terms with eventually. I can understand if you feel the need to leave. I'll even talk with her if you'd like me to. In fact, I'd love to meet her someday."
"Perhaps she would enjoy talking to you. I'd love to introduce you to her." He stood as he buttoned the last button. "I'm sorry to leave so soon after but I must check on her. Perhaps we can all get together for a meal sometime." He walked toward the door. He turned back momentarily. "I really am sorry." He said as he walked out the door.
The goldrider simply nodded and busied herself with putting her clothes back on. It wasn't the first akward flight and it certainly wouldn't be the last. She decided to go to the kitchens to find herself some food and then return to her weyr to enjoy it. Nyinth was such a young brown which meant the clutch was not likely to be very large. Sometimes she wondered how her gold chose her mates.
