Description: Alrog takes Fieayz to dance at his sister's wedding
Location: Garnet Valley Hold
Date: month 12, day 7 of Turn 3
After the dinner was eaten, drudges quickly cleaned room for the dancing and harpers tuned their instruments. The newlyweds started the dancing, then Alrog joined with his mother. Then he stole Rolfina from her husband for a dance. He also had to dance with rest of his sisters. After that, duties were done and he started to look for Fieayz.
He didn't have to look hard, she was sat at the side talking to Daynar's daughter when Alrog approached.
"Lady Fieayz, I believe I promised you a dance. May I?" he bowed at her.
"You may," she said rising to her feet. He'd called her Lady, it was another courtesy that caused her to blush slightly again. Maybe there was something to be said for hold life as opposed to the Weyr.
To Alrog, courtesy and formality were the armour he used against the world that thought him too young for such a position. He escorted the young woman to the dance floor. "So, have you enjoyed your visit to Iron Lake hold?" he asked when the music started.
"It has been very pleasant so far," she said as the dance began.
"Good to hear," Alrog smiled and swirled her into the dance. He was rather good dancer. Not expectional, but confident and he didn't miss steps, trip to his feets and most importantly he didn't tread on his partners toes.
Fieayz liked to dance, and with a good partner. Her father had made sure that she and her sister could dance, it was a suitable ladylike activity for them.
"I hope my mother haven't been giving you a hard time? She is very eager to get me married but very picky at the same time," Alrog asked when the dance brought them close again.
"I don't think I've spoken to her much," replied Fieayz.
"Lucky you then, she can be rather...formidable."
"Maybe I'll find out, maybe I won't," she said teasingly.
Alrog chuckled softly. If his mother didn't manage to scare her away, she certainly had...potential. He wanted a wife who didn't not stay second to his mother.
"Besides, she'd have to meet my father, and that could prove interesting."
"Your father has a strong personality, I take it?" Alrog pried as politely as he could.
"He keeps the Vintner Hall in check," Fieayz smiled fondly at the thought. Alrog wondered if she had inherited that quality from her father. Could she keep a busy mining hold in check? He was looking a spouse who could help him, not just somebody pretty he could show around.
Fieayz just concentrated on the steps for a moment or two, this was a dance she hadn't done for a while. It was surprisingly easy to dance with this man though. Maybe there was something that would encourage him to dance more.
The music ended and Alrog escorted her to the side. "Would you like another dance or would you prefer a glass of wine?" he asked.
"A glass of wine please?" Most men she knew would enjoy the wine, and loosen up a little after.
"Too bad we couldn't get anything from the Vintner hall, the place is in shambles after the earthquake," Alrog commented when he poured them glasses.
Then he remembered. "I'm sorry, you are from Vintner hall, weren't you? I hope all of your family is all right."
"My father is, and my sister and brother. But Papa, he lost his second wife. She, she was visiting the main hold..."
"I'm sorry to hear that. Were you close with her?" Alrog said and placed his hand comfortingly over hers.
"No, no they hadn't been married very long."
"It's still a tragedy."
"At least only a few died," she replied.
"That's a good thing. And meanwhile, the rest of us just have to do without the Vintner Hall's quality-wines."
"If I know my Papa, they'll be working on getting some new vines started, it won't be too long before they are beginning to brew again."
"Maybe we should toast their future success?" Alrog suggested. "I'd like that," she said turning and gifting the Holder with a smile. "To their success, and to your sister and her new husband."
They clicked their glasses together.
