It would be soon. Maybe today. N’vanik paced under the trees, unable to focus on his hidework. Three months since Warroth had last flown, and she was pretty regular. Three months since N’vanik’s feelings for Z’kim had changed. This would be the first time he’d go into a flight knowing the attraction wouldn’t fade with the last of the dragonlust. _If_ the sharding timing worked out.

N’vanik ran a hand through his hair and laughed a little at himself. Things had been so different that first time . . . well it was the _second_ time Loseth had caught Warroth. The first time had been shortly after he moved to Dream’s End and became friends with Z’kim, and as soon as the flight was over, N’vanik had said a polite “thank you”, grabbed his clothes, and gotten out of there. But the second time . . .

~* ~*~ *~

Month 10, 1196, Dream’s End Weyr

N’vanik slowly came out of the haze of dragonlust. Loseth had won, that much was clear from the deep satisfaction flowing through their bond. He slowly opened his eyes to find himself lying on his side, one arm flung possessively over the other rider. Even with his mind still fuzzy and the other man’s face half-turned away, N’vanik recognized his friend immediately.

Zeke again, great. Well, he should have expected this after last time. Loseth was obviously fond of Warroth and the feeling seemed mutual. }:She likes me,:{ Loseth confirmed sleepily from where he was curled possessively around the green. }:I flew her _very_ well.:{
N’vanik remembered snatches of the flight, long and high for a green, Warroth shaking off her pursuers as Loseth, slower and much larger than any of her other chasers, fought to keep up. Then the glorious moment when she dropped to meet him, talons seizing the wily green, necks and tails twining as Loseth drove forward to claim her.

No surprise thinking of that brought the residual dragonlust to the surface. His grip tightened on Z’kim and his gaze roamed over the man’s face, the well-formed muscles of his chest and shoulders. Winning was winning, and a warm body was a warm body, and under the influence of lingering dragonlust, N’vanik occasionally used a male rider to get off. He’d close his eyes and focus on the feeling of a warm, wet mouth or the friction of rubbing against a firm ass and try to ignore that it was a man.

But his eyes were wide open now and he . . . liked what he saw? He quickly pulled his arm away.

Z’kim stirred and opened his eyes. A lazy smile curved his lips. “Hello again, weyrmate.” The greenrider liked to make that joke since their neighboring weyrs had once been one larger weyr and had been made into two smaller ones. Their dragons shared a ledge just like weyrmates would, too. “Warroth is _very_ satisfied, and so am I.” Z’kim stretched, putting his body on full display, and the sight of it sent a bolt of lust through N’vanik.

What was happening? The flight was over.

The greenrider hummed. “It really is a shame you ride bronze. Life is so unfair sometimes.”

N’vanik desperately wanted to touch him, to put hands all over his friend, to take him . . . His breath came faster and he clenched his fists. Z’kim was a man, how could N’vanik feel like this?

}:You should do what feels good,:{ Loseth said.

Z’kim looked over at him and chuckled. “Oh you poor thing. Let’s get out of here and you can find yourself a woman to take care of you.”

Z’kim started to get up and N’vanik grabbed his arm. “Wait!”

The greenrider turned back and searched his eyes, frowning in concern. “N’vanik, is something wrong?”

Unable to hold back, N’vanik pulled him into a kiss. For just a moment Z’kim froze, but then he was kissing back, their mouths wet and greedy as the leftover dragonlust rose.

But then Z’kim pulled back. “Flight’s over, bronzerider.”

N’vanik didn’t have one sharding clue what was going on, but he knew that right now he didn’t want a woman. “I know.” N’vanik kept his grip on Z’kim and made himself meet the other man’s eyes. “But I want you.”

~*~ Fade to black ~*~

N’vanik came down slowly, trying to catch his breath. The lust faded, the ecstasy faded, and he became keenly aware that he was lying on top of a man. He pulled away and flopped onto his back, staring up at the ceiling.

“I have no sharding idea what just happened.” N’vanik put a hand over his eyes and immediately regretted it. His hand was wet . . . and sticky. He yanked it away. “Ugh! Oh, shards. I just got your jizz all over my face.”

Z’kim howled with laughter as N’vanik hastily wiped at his face with the bedfurs. Yeah, that was definitely too much. Everything that had been hot and confusing a few minutes ago was now disturbing and confusing. N’vanik got out of bed and went straight to the washbasin to do a better job of cleaning. He wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, but he wasn’t going to walk out of the flight room with his friend’s come all over his face and hand.

“Hmm, maybe you should scrub Loseth extra hard next time. I think there might be a little bit of blue under there.”

“That’s not funny,” N’vanik said as he wiped off the evidence.

“I’ve never had a bronzerider screw me like _that_ after a flight.”

“It was dragonlust.” N’vanik threw the washcloth down and turned to search for his clothes, carefully not looking at Z’kim. Right? That had to be it. Because while he was still feeling the after effects he couldn’t stop touching Z’kim and now he didn’t even want to be near him.

“Maybe, maybe not.” Z’kim fell silent for a long moment, long enough for N’vanik to get half dressed. “That was definitely _something_ though.”

“And now it’s over.” N’vanik stomped into his boots and then froze. He whipped around, finally looking at the greenrider. “You better not tell anybody about this.”

Z’kim was lying across the bed, still nude, with his head propped on one hand. Nothing about him had changed, and yet he looked completely different to N’vanik now. The desire was just _gone_. “Oh I’m telling everyone how well you flew me . . .” Fear and anger flooded N’vanik and he took a half step toward his friend. “But I won’t mention that you flew me _twice_.”

N’vanik let out a breath and ran a hand through his sweaty hair. “Good.” He bent to snatch his shirt from the floor.
“I’ll see you at home, weyrmate.” Z’kim blew him a kiss.

N’vanik fled.

~*~End flashback~*~

Now though . . . now he couldn’t wait to get back in the flight room with Zeke.

}:Not yet,:{ Loseth said.

N’vanik went back to pacing.
