Finally at least somewhat satified that her weyr looked how she wanted it, Maiz decided that it was time to relax. Since being near Indyath always had a calming effect on her, the greenrider decided that sitting out in the sun with her dragon was the perfect thing to do. "Beautiful day for sunning, isn't it," Gilsha called over to the young woman who was settling down not far from where she was stretched out. "Spring seems to be here at last."
"Thankfully. It seems spring has been a long time coming and it's one of my favorit seasons," Maiz replied. Gilsha nodded. "I haven't had a winter down here, but let me tell you, the winters up North are killer sometimes."
"So I've heard. Never experianced on though," Maiz added. "I have a very distinct feeling that I wouldn't like it. Being from warm places I think I'd freeze to death!"
"You're obviously new then," the other greenrider grinned. "Where do you come from?"
"From Vista Point. Where did you live in the North?"
she questioned, trying to deflect the conversation from her own past. "Oh, here and there. The last few turns have been at Telgar," Gilsha replied. "I've only been here a short while myself."
"It's nice so far," Maiz ventured, hoping the other woman would share her own opinions of the Weyr thus far. It would be good to get the perspective of another person who was new. "Yeah, it's not bad," she nodded. "So far I can't say I have any complaints. Everyone has been really nice and helpful. Its... a typical Weyr, I suppose."
"Been to one, been to them all theory?" Maiz joked. "That seems to be my experience at least," Gilsha chuckled. "They're all male dominated orgies as far as I can see. Not that I mind a nice fling now and again, but it seems to be the same thing day in and out - wake up, drill, sleep, wake up, get yelled at by your supposed superiors, find a partner for the night, sleep, wake up sweepride, bathe your dragon sleep, wake up, fight Thread, bathe your dragon, sleep... Same thing everywhere."
"I guess it gets more monotonous the longer you go about it," Maiz suggested. "I've been with Indyath less than a turn, so things are still new and interesting to me. Besides, it sure beats holdlife."
"Oh shards, that's for sure." Especially down in the south. "I would never go back to that life, even if someone offered to marry me to a handsome young Lord Holder. No way."
"You're holdbred too, huh? Isn't it funny how when your living that life you don't think to question it?
Then you impress a dragon, and you wonder how you could ever settle for that? I'm so thankful I found Indyath..."
"I suppose I had always secretly questioned it,"
Gilsha shrugged. "I would look at all the priviledges my brother's had that I could never have and I wondered just what it was that made them so sharding special, and me so inferior. When that dragon Searched me, there wasn't a doubt in my mind."
"Guess we'll both have to drink a toast tonight- to getting searched and getting away from holdlife," Maiz said chearfully. "Here here," her companion nodded.
