"I think that's everything." Tirraze finished loading up everything she meant to bring onto Riamorth. Blankets, towels, snackums, wine, the usual. "Everybody ready to go?"

"Ready!" Saedyna said. She had a small gift safely packed and tied on Avarith's straps.

"Ready," Cirina bounced her own small bag on her shoulders. "Uh, who am I riding with? Do either Riamorth or Avarith care?"

"Riamorth would love to carry you!"

The blue carefully booped Cirina with the tip of his snout.

"But he won't begrudge you flying with Avarith, either," said Tirraze. "Whatever billows your sails!"

"You spend enough time with boy dragons," Saedyna teased. "How about a pretty lady this time?"

"Such a gentleman, Riamorth," Cirina said, scratching him, "but you're a little loaded up. Looks like Avarith has more room. If you don't mind, lovely?" She didn't expect a response, but she still beamed at the green before moving to scramble up behind Saedyna. "Let's go see Oriene!"

Avarith was more than happy to carry one of Saedyna's friends, and once both women were strapped in, she took off and led the way toward the Hall. It was such a short distance that they flew the long way, gliding over the beach, passing a few other people going to or from the Weyr. The one positive about Oriene choosing to go back to her craft was that she was so close. Soon the dragons were landing outside the main building of the Dolphin Hall.

"Dragons here!" someone called, which was passed along the dolphineers. The apprentices all stopped in their lesson to take a look, even though dragons were a common sight there. Most returned to their work except for one, who recognized the trio. "You're here!" she greeted brightly, running over as warring emotions of happiness and wistfulness filled her.

Riamorth practically vibrated with the effort of holding still for not wanting to jostle Tirraze, and his excitement to see Oriene was palpable. Of course, he had not quite remembered that she existed a moment ago, but now that she was here (and he could feel Tirraze's friendly feelings for her) again? Well, to him, it was like she had never been gone!

"We brought snacks!" Tirraze announced with a laugh as she slid down from her blue's back.

"And presents!" Saedyna said.

Seeing how eager Riamorth was, Avarith hung back to let him greet the human first.

"Presents?" Oriene echoed, baffled, as she extended her hands for Riamorth to sniff.

Riamorth nuzzled against Oriene's hands and huffed cheerfully.

"Presents!" Tirraze sing-sang.

Saedyna removed a small box from pouch on Avarith's straps and offered it to Oriene. "Just a little something."

"For me?" Oriene asked as she took the pouch. "But...oh, for my birthingday?" Her birthingday had been around the last Hatching. It made sense, with the Hatching and her returning to Dolphin Hall shortly after, that they hadn't had a chance to really celebrate it. "Oh!" she exclaimed as she opened it to pull out a lovely shell bracelet. "It's so pretty! Where did you find it?"

"I went to a Gather at Coral Bay," Saedyna said, pleased she liked the gift.

"I brought myself," Cirina said shamelessly, though she rushed to hug Oriene. "Candidate life, you know, I don't get out of the barracks much," she winked cheerfully.

Oriene giggled as she returned the hug. "Oh, I remember. Not that I get out much as an apprentice either but at least I have the ocean to explore. A little." She tugged on the bracelet, checking to see how it fit against her other bracelets. Pleased, she beamed at Saedyna. "Thank you!" She gave Saedyna a hug and then hugged Tirraze as well, though she felt still a little weird with the whole bluerider situation. She was really going to have to work through that, she thought to herself. But that was another time. "You said there were snacks?" she asked Tirraze.

"I came prepared!" Tirraze grabbed and began to pick through the basket to show what she had brought. Wine, of course, but also little puffy cheesy breads, various tiny pickles, and summer sausage.

"She always remembers to bring snacks. She's so thoughtful." Saedyna gave Tirraze a soft look.

Cirina rolled her eyes, but there was a smile on her face, "We get it. You're smitten," she teased.

Oriene caught this. There was a moment of...awkwardness...that crossed her expression. She was happy for her friends, truly, but it still felt...weird. As though she had been expecting another lifetime to play out and it hadn't. "She's good like that," she said to Saedyna, trying not to focus on her awkward feelings.

"I learned from the best!" said Tirraze. Her mother, of course. "Should we plop down right here, or what do you think?"

"Let's go to the dock," Oriene suggested. "That way you can meet the pod!" Watching the dragons interact with the dolphins would be entertaining. She motioned for everyone to follow her towards the dock. There was a few of the younger, unpartnered dolphins swam aimlessly nearby. Oriene knew they would all come swarming the moment they spotted the group. "They're all really friendly," she explained. "And curious. They love to ask questions, so be ready to answer just about anything."

Saedyna clasped her hands together and grinned. "Oh I love dolphins!" Living at Dolphin Cove, she'd had plenty of opportunity to interact with them, but it was always a special experience.

}:Yes, let's play with dolphins!:{ Avarith told Riamorth before she started bounding for the water.

"Wait, wait!" Saedyna ran toward her to remove the green's straps and the supplies they'd brought.

Riamorth very nearly took off, too, but at Saedyna's shouting, he froze. That was what Tirraze taught him to do when someone was running toward him, so as not to squish them inadvertently. He instinctively lowered himself to the ground, which gave Tirraze the opportunity to unstrap him as well.

}:Now?:{

"Hold on, you silly wherry. Wait for Avarith."

Saedyna set the bag of supplies aside and quickly unfastened Avarith's straps. The dragon shook herself and then hurried for the water again. Saedyna shook her head in amusement.

"Well, at least he grew out of squishing people in exuberance," Oriene remarked to Tirraze with a chuckle.

"I think he got tired of hurting his own feelings," Tirraze chuckled. "With the terror in people's eyes as he exuberates up to them."

"So, what's new with you, Oriene? It's been so quiet in the barracks without you," Cirina said, staying out of the way of the eager dragons.

"Swimming. So much swimming," Oriene answered with a laugh. "I swear, I spend more time in the water than I do on land nowadays." She splayed her fingers. "Maybe I'll grow fins like a fish." She giggled brightly at the absurdity of the idea. "And you, Cir? What's been happening with you?"

"Absolutely nothing, I am still on Infirmary cleaning duty," she held up her hands, which were stained red from scrubbing tools with redwort. "I don't think this is ever going to come off. We actually can't stay too long, I have to get back there in a few hours and R'lor will probably extend my sentence if he finds out I was late."

"Should we get to snacking then?" Saedyna asked.

"Yes, let's!" Tirraze handed a corner of the blanket to each present friend so they could spread it out.

Oriene had to admit that it at least felt good that her friends had made the effort to come out to see her. She carried that happy thought well into the afternoon, as the four of them caught up on the latest gossip and watched two dragons play with the dolphins.
