}:There you are!!:{ Ibranth bugled, and swooped in Nazoth's direction. }:I have a weyr now!! _And_ we can fly by ourselves!:{
}:Having a weyr is nice. Mine is too small, though,:{ Nazoth said.
M'sar looked up as the pair approached. "He's gettin' big."
"Of course he is." R'zen huffed, sliding down off of Ibranth the moment the blue landed and crouched. "He's going to be the biggest blue in my entire class."
He patted blue hide. "We're fast, too." He added. "... What're you doing out here?"
M'sar arched an eyebrow. "It's the Weyrbowl."
"No, I meant--" R'zen started, then made a face. "... Look. Don't make it weird, but... I just.... I guess I kinda wanted to say sorry." He added. "I was being kind of a wherry. The other day."
He made another face. "Was gonna ask if you wanted to go get lunch or train or something, but whatever, if you don’t want to."
M'sar tilted his head. "We have a fight I forgot about?"
}:Where is your weyr? I want to see if it's bigger than mine,:{ Nazoth said.
"Never mind." R'zen huffed. "C'mon. I'm headed for the Dining Hall."
}:I will show you.:{ Ibranth told Nazoth, and spread his own wings. }:It is quite acceptable, Mine says, and my ledge is big enough for two dragons.:{
M'sar snorted a laugh. "Yeah, sure. What's eatin' you?"
Nazoth followed Ibranth, judging the ledge even before he landed, comparing it to his own. }:Hmm. This is the same size.:{ At least the blue didn't have a bigger one.
}:It is an _excellent_ size!:{ Ibranth declared. }:And mine says it is flat enough to easily push snow off of.:{
R'zen set off. "Nothing." He responded, with a shrug. If M'sar didn't remember, he wasn't going to remind him.
Nazoth took up a large percentage of the ledge, but Ibranth fit easily next to him. The brown studied the flat surface for another moment. }:I want to see your couch.:{
"Ooh, touchy," M'sar said with little smile as he followed the younger weyrling.
Ibranth let out a draconic yawn, blinking once. }:It is very comfortable.:{ he responded. }:Sometimes Mine sleeps under my wing.:{
"Shut up." R'zen muttered, but without any heat to it.
M'sar rolled his eyes. "So you got a weyr now. Nazoth's bein' nosy about it."
The brown ducked inside and climbed onto the couch, spreading his large body across it. }:Ah,;{ he said with a hint of satisfaction. }:Yours is a little smaller than mine.:{
"I hope he's not planning on moving in." R'zen huffed in response. "I _like_ my weyr. My own space, and I can decorate or not how I _want_."
Ibranth snorted, and eyed him from the ledge. }:That couch is mine. It is very comfortable.:{
Nazoth wiggled a bit and then rose. }:You can keep it. Mine is comfortable, too, even if it is a little small.:{ The couch was large enough to fit his entire body, he just thought it should be bigger.
"Nah, he just wanted to make sure you didn't get a bigger one," M'sar said as they reached the food line. "I love havin' a weyr. A whole place that's just _mine_."
}:I do not need your permission.:{ Ibranth huffed, though he moved over so Nazoth could re-emerge. }:And Mine and I like this weyr. We will not move.:{
"My weyr's awesome." R'zen agreed. "We got a good view, and it's angled the right way for less snow." He added. "Just getting out of the Barracks finally is a relief, too."
"The barracks wasn't so bad, but my class is so small we had lots of extra room," M'sar said. "And a weyr is _way_ better."
"My class is _annoying_." R'zen huffed finally. "Though it's better now that we all have our own weyrs." He added. "Still... if Ibranth was any bigger, I'd probably insist on trying to join your class instead."
M'sar snorted. "Doesn't work like that." He started loading his plate. "A'garyn is definitely annoying, so you're right about that."
"A'garyn isn't so bad." R'zen huffed, and took a meatroll for himself. "It's O'rock who's annoying. And maybe that A'yan guy." He added.
"Yeah?" M'sar was curious to hear drama from another class. "What's bad about them?"
"Well O'rock leaves me alone _now_." R'zen huffed. "But for a while he kept randomly offering me food." He rolled his eyes. "His dragon isn't too bright either."
A pause, and he considered before he added, "A'yan completely fainted the first time everyone got to fly. Gets this queasy look half the time we go up too."
"_Fainted_?" M'sar laughed. "Before he got on his dragon or like, passed out in the straps?"
"In the straps." R'zen snorted, then winced. "I mean... it wasn't exactly graceful."
"Shards, I wish I'd seen that!" M'sar finished filling his tray and turned to look for a table.
R'zen slanted a look his way, then gave a sort of shrug, pointed toward two spots nearby. "Over there." He told the other weyrling. "And I wish I _hadn't_. Nhaliviath got all worried. And if A'yan can't pull it together _now_, what's he gonna do when we really kick off in drills and his green's dodging and diving everywhere?"
"Hope you don't end up in his trio," M'sar said. "You're goin' /between/ pretty soon, right?"
R'zen trotted for a seat, though at M'sar's question, he slowed. "That's the next big thing, yeah." He responded. "I... I'm not scared, though! Me and Ibranth can beat _any_ challenge."
M'sar slid into a seat and eyed R'zen. "You just gotta have a clear picture and hold it in your head." The Weyrlingmasters had kept telling them it was dangerous, that sometimes weyrling pairs died. If R'zen made a mistake . . . "You want to practice later? Not going /between/, but sending images through our dragons?"
"It wouldn't hurt to get some extra practice." R'zen responded, and took a bite of meatroll. "Besides. Ibranth and me _both_ want to be as prepared as possible. My goal hasn't changed."
"Weyrleader's Wing, yeah?" M'sar rolled his eyes and picked up his dragontail.
R'zen bared his teeth in a grin. "Straight for it." He confirmed. "We'll be the _obvious_ choice."
"I guess if that makes you happy," M'sar said around a mouthful.
}:I would like to be in the Weyrleader's Wing,:{ Nazoth said from where he was now sunning on Ibranth's ledge. }:We would be close to the leader, and that would make us even more important.:{
"I wanna be in K'mai's Wing," M'sar told both of them. "That one sounds fun. They have lots of parties and stuff."
R'zen huffed. "K'mai's not so bad." He agreed. "But I _definitely_ would rather train than stand around at a party." He added.
Ibranth had settled down right next to Nazoth. This _was_ his ledge after all. }:Mine says that he amd I will be the obvious first choice, when it is our turn.:{ he said.
}:Maybe we will both be in the Weyrleader's Wing,:{ Nazoth said.
M'sar stared at the younger weyrling. "You're so weird."
"_You're_ weird." R'zen retorted, though without any heat to it. "I just know what I want. What me and Ibranth deserve."
He gave a sort of shrug. "Might definitely even make Wingthird someday."
M'sar laughed. "Yeah? You gonna boss me around someday maybe?" He did kind of admire R'zen's ambition. A little.
R'zen grinned back at him, a self-satisfied sort of smirk. "Maybe." He responded. "Gotta start strong if I wanna catch anyone's eye." He added. "Ibranth and me can do it. I _know_ we can."
The brownrider considered him a moment. He didn't understand why R'zen wanted this so bad, but it was obviously important. "You been group leader and stuff?"
"Once or twice." R'zen huffed. "Ibranth’s gotten Nazoth and Talarcheth to listen to him, at least a little bit." He added, after a beat. "And I can probably get some of my classmates to listen, too."
"Leading ain't about 'probably', you gotta make sure they listen and follow orders or else your trio or nine is gonna be a mess." M'sar took another bite of his dragontail.
R'zen slanted M'sar another long look, measuring, and took another few bites of food before he continued. "You're ahead of me in drills and stuff too. Maybe Nazoth could show Ibranth some of the maneuvers. Then they could train together. If you both wanted."
M'sar considered that for a moment. Nazoth would probably have fun bossing around a younger dragon. "All right."
"Cool." R'zen responded. "Besides, Ibranth and me are already working on his stamina. He'll last."
M'sar snickered.
