"Am I ever glad _that's_ over with." Birigundi sighed as he plopped down next to Kamira and laid an arm over her shoulder. He had been running for the healers during Threadfall and his legs were just starting to feel the burn from all the trips up and down stairs.
"At least you got to work with the healers! I was shoveling firestone the entire time!" She nestled against his shoulder and closed her eyes, but didn't expect to sleep.
"Well, at least you had Weyrlings to keep you company, then. I just had to follow the healers orders. I don't consider running errands as 'working with the healers'." He sighed as he let his head rest against hers. It would be so much more exciting to spend Threadfall in the skies actually _doing_ something. Maybe soon...
"Oh please, we both know being the errand boy is easier than the firestone drudge. Don't even try and pull that one on me." It ocurred to her that his unexposed neck was temptingly close, but she wasn't sure she had the engery to follow through.
"Yeah, but you'll build muscles that you'll need for when you Impress." He chuckled slightly. "And I guess I was building the lightning fast reflexes needed for following orders that I'll need too."
She shrugged a little. "I don't want to even think about training right now. New topic!"
"Wow, is my conversation that boring?" he asked laughing. "All right, little miss impatient, what do _you_ want to talk about?"
"I want to talk about how pretty I am!" Kamira giggled, allowing herself a bit of vanity.
"All right, but only if we can talk about how handsome I am afterwards," Birigundi chuckled Kamira pulled a face. "Well then nevermind. I've never been a very good lair." She gave him a playful nudge with her arm.
"Oh, you're gonna get it now!" Birigundi cried as he began attacking Kamira's sides with his fingers mercilessly.
The poor girl realized all too late the situation she was is. Birigundi was much too strong for her to fight back so the only way left for her to stop the assualt was to give in. "Ok! Ok!" she gasped between breaths.
"I... give! - You're - handsome!"
"Ah, but how handsome am I?" he asked as he leaned over her, his fingers at the ready, mischief in his eye with a little twinkle of... _more_ mischief.
"Devastatingly handsome." Given, Kamira said it just to get the much heavier Birigundi off of her, but a part ofher wasn't so sure she wasn't serious. He was decently attractive after all...
"Why, thank you," he said with an impish grin. "And I think you're breath-takingly beautiful. Especially with that smudge of firestone dusk on your nose."
"I don't care." She sighed contentedly. "You'd still fall into bed with me the moment I said the word firestone or not."
"Of course. After all, after the Hatching it's going to be a _long_ wait before I fall into bed with any girls again."
Kamira fell silent. She wasn't exactly sure why Birigundi's words suddenly impacted her so much, but they seemed to bring home more than a few realities about what could await her as a weyrling.
Birigundi was unsettled by her sudden silence. Rocking back on his knees he asked, "Did I say something wrong?"
"Of course not, lovely." She put a soft hand to his face. "I'm just being a silly little girl. That's all.
Now get your lazy bone up and follow me to the bathing caverns for a soak before we both cramp up and regret so much as _thinking_ about movement." She got up with a groan and offered a hand to Birigundi.
He took her hand, but instead of standing up he pulled her back down. "I don't feel like moving just yet,"
his said as one hand slipped behind her neck to pull her in for a kiss.
