Happens before “DFW: We Meet Again”
The weyrlingmasters had said the greens in the class might start rising soon, and the males might start chasing. M’sar had been watching Nazoth keenly for any signs of interest. The brown certainly enjoyed sharing the feelings of M’sar bedding men and surely he’d want to find out what sex felt like for himself.
Cold rain fell on Dragonsfall and M’sar was spending as much of the day inside as he could. But even through the stone and over the steady patter of the rain, he could hear the familiar sounds of a green announcing her lust to the Weyr. **Who is it?**
}:Reveroth,:{ the answer came with mild curiosity. But there was no feeling of lust from his dragon, and from what he’d heard it would be _very_ obvious when Nazoth had interest.
M’sar couldn’t understand it. **But you like her. Don’t you want to chase her?**
}:I like her very much, but I do not feel like chasing.:{ The feelings from his rider grew stronger â€" concern and worry and confusion. }:Do you want me to chase?:{ he asked, uneasy that he was somehow upsetting his rider.
**Yeah,** M’sar replied automatically. What was going on? Why didn’t he want to chase? **I mean, if you want to.**
Nazoth rose slowly from his couch, eyes whirling yellow. }:It will make you happy if I chase?:{ Outside, several males were answering Reveroth and he could feel their lust, and the green’s, but he didn’t feel it for himself.
M’sar tried to get a handle on his own emotions. He’d hurt Nazoth when he’d tried to have sex before his dragon was ready, and pushing him now might hurt him, too. **Only if you want to. You really don’t want to?**
}:I could if it will make you happy?:{ Nazoth could try at least. The swirl of emotions from his rider were unpleasant and he wanted to make M’sar feel better.
M’sar’s stomach dropped and he ran to the dragon’s couch. “No!” He put a hand on one massive forearm, stopping Nazoth as he was headed out to the ledge. **Don’t make yourself do something you don’t want. It’s okay.** He pushed down the longing, the thought of joining the circle of men as a participant instead of just waiting on the outside. Wondering what it would be like to join with Nazoth in the sky, full of desire for Reveroth.
Turning back, Nazoth lowered his head toward his rider. M’sar reached up to stroke his muzzle, his heart clenching with guilt. **You ain’t gotta do nothing you’re not ready for. I’m sorry.**
}:I am sorry I do not feel what you want me to.:{
**No. No.** He swallowed hard. **Don’t ever feel sorry for something like that.** He hugged the big brown’s head, feeling like a selfish asshole.
Outside, Reveroth took flight with the lustful males streaking after her. It tugged at M’sar, and he couldn’t help the brief burst of disappointment. He held Nazoth tighter and focused on sending love to his dragon. **It’s fine. You’ll chase when you’re ready.**
Nazoth crooned, trying to soothe his rider. }:You could find someone to mate with?:{ That always made his rider feel good and the brown liked sharing in the sensations.
M’sar considered going down to moth. If he hurried, he’d probably be there before the flight ended and he could snag one of the disappointed riders. But the thought of watching R’bharra being claimed by some other man when M’sar knew he had no chance made his stomach tight and sour.
There were plenty of others not involved in the flight, though, and M’sar could rut out his frustration on them. **Good idea.** He stepped back and patted his dragon’s nose. **And I’ll give you a good scrub later if you’d like.**
}:Yes.:{ The yellow began to fade from Nazoth’s eyes.
M’sar headed out, going through a mental list of bedmates. Best to focus on the pleasure to come instead of how he was definitely not jealous that R’bharra was going to share a flight with someone else.
