Amowyn carefully tucked her daughter into bed. She smiled as the little girl held tight to her hand. Amowyn knelt beside her small bed. Aavyn was a smaller version of her mother. She had dark hair that tended to curl. Her dark eyes held five turns of her own father's disappointment. She was tiny for her age. Amowyn didn't care, she was perfect in her eyes. Aavyn had her daddy's darker complexion. Amowyn tickled her till she giggled and kissed her face all over. Oh, how she loved her little girl.

"Mama, will you tell me a story?" She asked. She curled on her side to look at her mother. Her dark eyes begged for the story she always asked for.
Amowyn knew it was the story of their own travels. Aavyn loved hearing it told. "Once upon a time, long ago, there lived a small girl. She was special. Her father couldn't see how special she was. All he cared about was the small fact of her being a girl."

"Like daddy?" The small girl asked, knowing far to well that it was. She had lived with that very disappointment all her life. Perhaps some day she would forget. Perhaps someone would come into her life and help her forget.

"Yes like your father. But, like you this little girl had a loving mother.
One day after far to many harsh words from him. Both the little girl and her mother ran far away. There they found a new life and happiness. There the learned what it was to be loved again. The journey was a long one, full of danger and hardship. There where bandits, felines, and thread. Many times they had to hide. Several times they came near to death. In the end they found a new place to live. When they thought they had found the end of their long journey, they had truly found the beginning of another." She kissed her daughter's head. The girl had been very tired. Amowyn stood and walked to her window. She had been lucky enough to get this particular room. She had asked for a small one-room place for her daughter and herself. They didn't need much. She looked out the window to the distance. She wondered if he was thinking of them. Did he even look for us? She was kidding herself to think that he might. He probably remarried and moved on. She glanced back at her sleeping daughter. Tears filled her eyes. She needed to find someone. She needed to marry again for her daughter's sake.
Problem being that she had to worry about being found out. What would the council of holders think The most she could hope for would be to be a mistress. They would not be sympathetic.

She sighed and got into her own bed. She turned to face the wall and as she had done each night since she had chosen to run, she cried herself to sleep. She wept for her daughter, for herself, but most of all for their future.
