M'tias stuck his head into the room, he could see several candidtes waiting and sighed. "Hello everyone."
Aidiata looked up ad watched as he walked in. She quickly ducked her head down and studied the hides they had been given. Her curls helped to hide her face from any who would look.
He noticed a quick movemnt out of the oconner of his eye and turned.
For a moment he thought it was his mother, somehow younger. The he reconzed her from Marithi discription. The harper wasn't here yet so he walked over. "Your Aidiata aren't you?" he asked.
Aidiata looked up. Her honey colored eyes widened. "Yes I am." She tried to place the oyung man in front of her, but failed.
"My mother mentioned you'd like to go with us to the cove this restday. Do you still want to go?" he asked.
"If it no trouble. It will be nice getting to know someone. Do you mind if I join you?" She asked. HE was kinda cute and he seemed nice.
She had watched him with other candidates.
"Be glad to have you with us. Woeth likes to meet new people."
Aidiata favored him with a rare smile. "Thank you. I look forward to meeting him. I've only really met a few dragons here at the weyr."
She looked up as her friends walked in. Her heart sank a bit when they walked over and sat with a group of candidates at the back of the room. She turned away not wanting the hurt to show.
"Rather like felines aren't they." M'tias hadn't missed the look or it's cause.
Adaita looked back at him in confusion. "Dragons?" She asked wondering what he was referring to.
"People. When they want something, their nice, when they get it their gone." he nodded the group toward the back of the room.
"I grew up with them. We were best friends. When we got here they seemed to find new friends and forgot me. It's okay really." She said saddly.
"So do what they did, find yiur own friends. Ones with dragons are always good. People seem to think that it means they'll impress if they hang around dragons."
"All right then," Aidiata suddenly got brave and asked, "Will you be my friend?" Since those she had grown up with had chosen to find new freinds then maybe he was right and she should too.
M"tias smiled, "Sure, it'll be nice to talk to someone who isn't weyrbread. They just don't get it somethimes."
"That's because they have never been there. It's so different here. So much more free." SHe said simply.
"It's nice though, no one has total conrtol over anyone else."
"True. I find it intresting. People here are so free. I think it would be funny to see how my grandma would do here. She is so hide bound and proper. No one slouched or played around on her time." She giggled at the thought. Her mess of curls bounced as she did so.
"Sounds like my father, he'd have hated the Weyr. I know he didn't like dragonriders."
"She didn't mind dragonriders. She just doesn't like idleness." She said thoughtfully.
"He always said that dragonrider where idle and immoral. But I don't think he'd ever been to a weyr in his life."
"Most who have a proublem with the weyr have never been to one., or they have but it was a bad time." SHe smiled. She glanced up just as the class was getting ready to start. "Uh oh we'd best start paying attention."
She giggled.
"Sure." he smiled, she was nice.
