Description: E'naer's Eillispeth rises to mate.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 25 of Turn 3
A familiar wave of hunger/lust intruded into E'naer's mind, interrupting his lecture to the weyrlings. **Shells! Does it have to be just now? Can't you wait for a half a candlemark?** E'naer asked. Of course, he had been aware that Eillispeth's mating flight was getting closer for a few days now, but the actual rising always surprised him.
}: No, no waiting. Need. NOW! :{ The green's reply was only semi-cohorent.
"Okay, this is another facet of rider's life you soon will become familiar with. Mating flights. And they always seem to pick up the most inconvinient times. You are dismissed," The weyrlingmaster's third adressed the class.
He didn't wait around to see their reaction, but started towards the feeding grounds in full run. By the time he reached it, Eillispeht was draining blood from young ovine and males had already arriving.
U'kaiah also had to leave the class early, slipping out the back even before the greenrider had made his exit. Kalamath was watching the green hungrily as she ate.
**Who?** queried D'nev as Shoglenth showed signs of wanting to chase.
}:Eillispeth!:{ was the simple reply.
The green growled and preened and showed off for the males.
H'tri wasn't suprised when Giscouth announced his intentions to chase Eillispeth, but let his dragon give him a ride to the feeding grounds.
The blue chased most of the rising greens although he hadn't won one yet, but that didn't seem to deter him from trying.
Visigoth watched the green intently from his spot not too far away, his meal forgotten in the excitement of an impending chase. His rider wasn't quite as interested in the flight as he was, but that didn't bother the blue one bit. He liked chasing the greens, especially his rider's weyrmate's green.
Eillispeth decided it was enough of play and launched herself into the air without a second warning. She caught a nice, strong, rising air current and was spiralling higher with amazing speed.
Xmrenth droped from the ledge, hoping for an advage as the green soared above him.
Kalamath sprang into the sky after her. He had chased this dragon before and was hoping that his knowledge of the green would help him in this case.
Eillispeth found a good wind. She was flying with it, fast and straight.
She easily left all her chaser behind, especially the big bronzes. But she knew she couldn't keep up this speed for long. Still, she was enjoying it as long as it lasted. She rarely got a change to fly at her top speed. }: You are too slow to catch me! :{ she taunted them.
}:_I_ will find you,:{ replied Shoglenth as he found himself chasing the green. }:Come to me, be mine.:{ Visigoth watched as the green got farther and farther ahead. He was determined to keep up as long as he could. It wasn't like she could sustain that pace forever and he would be there when she began to falter.
Giscouth had encountered many different greens, but Eillispeth was the fastest one yet. He was tiring more quickly than he would have anticipated, but would do his best to keep up.
Eillispeth started to tire and her speed slowed down. She suddenly turned fully around, flying directly towards her chasers! She dove right middle of them, surprisinging them all. Only those who could react fast, would have a change. She twisted and avoided a one agile blue.
Backwinginng Xmrenth would had laughed had he been able. Not only was she lovely beyond words, but clever as well.
It was time to choose, Eillispeth felt it. He was big, strong and she could feel his admiration. The green turned to offer herself up to be caught.
When the green twisted away from him, that was enough for Shoglenth. He knew then that he was not going to win. The cry that came from him was full of frustration as he turned away, heading back to the Weyr and his.
Visigoth tried to turn, but wasn't fast enough to regain the ground lost when the green came right at them. He spiraled back towards the ground as Ch'lvias tried his best to console him.
Giscouth was almost to the green when she was caught. He roared in fustration and began his descent to the ground.
Xmrenth roared in triumph as he twinned necks with the green. On the ground K'lvin reached for her rider, lost in dragonlust.
U'kaiah was a bit dazed as he all but stumbled into the arms of a willing woman. Kalamath would be moody for a couple days after loosing, but the bronze's rider would do his best to help them both find consolation.
