Description: M'galec has a surprise for Lenala...
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 12, day 25 of Turn 3
M'galec knew he had been spending far too much time in the infirmary since Abrei's surgery. It was obvious that his weyrmate was less than pleased at being left alone so many evenings. So he had placed an order for something nice at the tailors - he knew she _always_ liked new clothes. Now the pretty skirt was ready and he couldn't wait to see if she liked it. He lit the candles, checked the food already served up nice and neat, patted the flowers into place, and sat down to wait for the goldrider to come home.
She arrived with a grumpy, angry expression that turned into a surprised one when she saw the candles lit on the table. Her eyes traveled over the candles and food, settled for a moment on the flowers and then finally found M'galec's face. "You're here." "I am," he grinned. "I insisted that I be given the night off so I could spend it with you. I hope you did not have plans already."
Her plans had involved seeking out someone who was willing to spend time with her, but she hadn't actually gotten around to doing it yet. So she shook her head with a smile that held only a hint of an edge. "Of course not. I was planning on waiting patiently at home for someone to come and talk to me."
The bronzerider stood and walked over to wrap his arms around her waist.
"You know I hate making you wait for me, right? You know I would rather be here with you."
She thought about asking why he didn't _do_ something about it, but thought better of spoiling the first evening she'd actually had with him. Maybe things were going to start getting better. And if they didn't, Lenala could take matters into her own hands.
For now she wrapped her arms around him. "Well, I'm glad you're here now."
He leaned down to kiss her softly before murmuring, "I have a gift for you."
That certainly improved Lenala's mood. "Oh?"
"Mmmhmm," he hummed as he kissed once more and pulled her towards the table.
"I just hope you like it," he said as he reached down for the box. With a slight flourish he presented it to her. "This is for you, my love."
Smiling, she gave him a brief kiss as a reward before setting the box on the table and sitting down to open it. The cover of the box was discarded carelessly as she pulled the skirt out, eyes going wide with delight. "Oh, M'galec... it's _gorgeous_!"
"I was hoping you would like it," he grinned. "I hope you do not mind, I took your tunic down to the tailor with me - the one you say that you love but it never 'goes' with anything. I asked him to make you something to go with it."
Tossing the skirt over her arm, Lenala swept past him in the direction of the sleeping chamber, stripping off clothing as she went and letting it stay wherever it landed. There'd be plenty of time to pick it up later. "I have to try them on together!" she called back over her shoulder.
He followed her to the sleeping chamber, picking up the discarded clothing.
The bronzerider stood in the door and watched her bustling about. She really did look happy. That brought a satisfied smile to his face. M'galec enjoyed making Lenala happy. He had been foolish and caught up in the moment with Abrei, but what he had with Lenala was different. It wasn't a drive for self-satisfaction like that evening in Abrei's office had been.
Why couldn't he just be a surgeon and have a _normal_ life? Come home at a decent hour? Not wear himself out every night with weyrlings _and_ a shift in the infirmary? Why did he have to be so sharding brilliant? He wished in that moment that he could just be a common man, that he could come home every night and just... look at her. "You know, you truly are beautiful, Lenala," he murmured as he watched her slip into her new skirt.
She pulled the tunic in question out and grinned at him over her shoulder.
"You think so?"
"I really do," he nodded, watching her every move. "I could watch you every day for the rest of my life and never grow tired of it. You are stunning."
"I'm glad you think so." She pulled the tunic over her head and smoothed it down slowly, deliberately letting her hands drag over the curve of her hips in a seductive manner. If she was _finally_ going to have M'galec's attention, she had every intention of making sure it was undivided. And enthusiastic.
His eyes followed her hands. Yes, he was a lucky man to have this to come home to. "Perhaps you would like to check in the mirror?" he suggested. "I think that skirt really does compliment your tunic quite nicely."
"Mmmmm. Want to come look with me?" She slid in front of the mirror and admired the way the skirt clung to her hips but flared out near the bottom.
He didn't need an invitation. The bronzerider was already half way across the room, her clothes dumped unceremoniously in a heap by the door. M'galec stood behind her and openly admired her reflection in the mirror. He loved the way she looked. He loved the way they looked together. A smile touched his lips as he ran his hands down her sides, smoothing down the tunic and coming to settle possessively on her hips. He leaned in to whisper in her ear, "You are everything a woman ought to be, Lenala. You are beautiful, charming, and you know how to make me happy. I want to make you happy too."
She gave him a mischievous look in the mirror. "You do, hmmm?"
"I do," he murmured, kissing her neck softly. "Are you happy with me, Lenala?"
"Mmmmmm." She could have ruined the moment by saying that she was happy when he was actually there, but she wasn't going to waste this evening on a fight. There'd be plenty of time for that if he stopped coming home again.
Covering his hands with his, she twined their fingers together and pulled his arms around her. "I am."
"Good," he whispered as his lips grow a bit bolder, "because I intend to spend the whole night making you much - _much_ - happier."
