Characters: Nathyniel, F'gol
Description: Nathyniel enlists Figol's help in getting his compositions onto paper accurately.
Location: Harper Hall
Date: month 13, day 5 of Turn 3

Nathyniel had been told that there was a junior apprentice that was a budding composer. During the midday meal, he asked someone to point out the young man. With a smile, Nathyniel slid in across from Figol and said, "Good afternoon, Figol. How are you today?"

He recognized the blind harper but hadn't had the chance to work with him. "I'm doing good, can I help you with something?"

"I am looking for someone who has an interest in composing that might be willing to help me with a project." he said never really having learned to be evasive and hold their interest when he was trying to ask a favor of someone when he couldn't see them. It was easier to simply ask what he needed to ask as he couldn't see their faces to gauge their moods anymore.

"Who told you that?" Figol asked with more bite than he had intended. His time in the archives had gotten him interested, but besides the Master archivist and his journeyman, no one had known of his tuning; he was afraid the other apprentices would tell him they weren't any good.

Nathyniel was taken aback at the apprentice's tone of voice. He hadn't thought the question would have provoked such a response. "Well...no one really. I'm just asking around to see if anyone's interested in helping me. I got a few names from Journeyman Okwel when I asked him if he had any students that seemed to be promising in the area of composition."

Ahh, Okwel, that explained it then, "Sorry, I was just taken off guard there, not many people know about my composing. I'm really not very good at it."

"That's allright. I have lots of verses in my head, but no way to write them down. I need someone I can trust to help me get them on paper." he replied grinning sheepishly. He knew how to read and write, but not when he was unable to _see_ what was written.

"Oh, well I guess I can help with that. Did Okwel really recommend me?" he asked surprised. He had always thought Okwel didn't like him...

"Thanks. He did and said you were one of the better students to ask." Nate replied reaching a hand to pet Sight's head in response to her nudging.

Figol grunted, "Must be all the copying I have to do for him."

"At least that's one thing I no longer _have_ to do, but surprisingly I kind of miss being able to." Nathyniel said with a soft laugh. There were so many things that he used to be able to do, but was no longer able to without being able to see what he was doing. Practicing his guitar was difficult, but he pursued it because he needed to prove that he could do most of the things a harper was able to do.

He wrinkled his nose, "Well, don't miss it too much, trust me, I have to do enough for both of us."

"I shall try not to. Thank you very much for your help. It will truly be invaluable to me and my desire to continue in our craft."

Figol just shrugged, "No problem." At least it was new material to write out instead of the same old stuff he's usually told to do. "I've got to run, meet up with you later?"

"Allright. Thanks again." Nathyniel replied.
