Description: Cherlyn's green Lueanth rises to be caught
by...
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 21 of Turn 3
"What's with you this week?" Cherlyn asked the
sleeping dragon on her couch. Lueanth had been
having
trouble sleeping lately, was testy and irritable,
had
been showy during the last Threadfall, and Cherlyn
couldn't figure out why.
The green didn't respond, but her leg twitched again
in her sleep. Cherlyn sighed and went back to her
reading.
A short while later Cherlyn felt a slight twinge of
lust. Thought, that was odd. Then as suddenly as
the thought came, Lueanth's head rose from her couch,
her eyes whirling red.
"What is it?" Cherlyn asked, suddenly remembering
her greens cycle.
Lueanth didn't answer, instead she bugled her
challenge and jumped from the ledge into the sky.
}:I chase!:{ Chaneth declared and leapt into the sky
after the green. }:Lueanth, my beauty, let us fly
together!:{ he called flirtatiously.
**You've chased every green that's risen all month
and caught half of
them.** L'pin grumped, leaving his weyr to search
for the rider. He
needed now, thanks to his blue. Where was she?
D'cal set down his whittling. **You're chasing
_again_? But I'm
supposed to meet Dyaera...**
}:I want her. I need her.:{ Was his blue's emphatic
response.
His rider couldn't argue with that. He hurried to
the ledge and was dropped off next to a familiar
brownrider. B'ram looked over at the bluerider. They
always seemed to be in the same flights. Apparently,
their dragons had the same taste in greens. Fitting...
Kenaranth was taking a nap while his rider visited
some clutchmate or
another there at Dolphin Cove. He felt lazy and
didn't mind the new
surroundings. The shrill scream of a rising green
made the randy
bronze raise his head, she was young but pretty.
Well if he won his
rider could wait to return to River Bluff.
Cherlyn found her way down to the flight rooms. She
watched as the riders too found their way to her. She
looked at their faces, the one face she wanted to see
not appearing. What would she do if he wasn't there
to choose.
Lueanth rose higher and higher, twisting and turning
in the sky, just reveling in the wonder of a flight.
She looked back at her chasers. All fine males.
}: Come and get me boys! :{ she taunted. She bugled
defiantly, challenging her chasers. They would work
for her.
Aosorath took off after her, beating his wings as hard
as he could. He
was fast! He could catch that green, he knew he
could!
Girifith got off to a bit slower a start, but he knew
better than to
expend all his energy in the first moments. The
flight would not be
won in the first few wingbeats anyway. It took patience
and experience.
He almost gave a draconic laugh as he watched the antics
of the small blue
ahead of him.
J'ren reached the knot of people and spied the rider.
The girl from the
cove! **Go get her Kenaranth!** he told the bronze.
Chaneth flew after her, steady and straight like an
arrow. }:I am large and strong, I shall fly you well.:{ he promised her.
The chase would not be won now, but he could speak to her cunningly
anyways.
Lueanth beat her wings heavily. She was beginning to
tire. Looking behind her she saw a dragon she knew.
Without thinking she dove to the waiting bronze.
}:MINE!:{ Kenaranth roared as he twined necks with
his prize. J'ren
would be pleased he knew.
On the ground, Cherlyn fell into J'ren's arms, tears
of joy breaking through the dragonlust as she led him
into the waiting weyr.
