Tours

Writers: April, Paula
Date Posted: 5th September 2006

Characters: Amowyn, Alrog
Description: Amowyn gets a tour form Alrog, and a promise for a gaurd for her trip back home.
Location: Garnet Valley Hold
Date: month 13, day 15 of Turn 3

Amowyn had come to the hold to visit someone she had befriended. She was in the kitchen laughing with her friend and talking over a cup of Klah, when a man she had yet to meet walked in. She glanced up as her friend left to see if he needed anything.

Since Amowyn was out visiting she had dressed in a simple green dress with her hair in one simple braid down her back. She unconscously smoothed her hair and dress as she watched him.

"Greetings, ladies," Alrog greeted. He turned to the cook. "Can I have some klah and few sandwiches to go?" He had noticed the green dressed woman and gave her a curious look. "I don't believe we have met?"

"Sorry sir, I'm Amowyn. I come form the Garnet valley Hold itself. I;m visiting." She smiled softly and held out a hand to shake.

"I'm Alrog, holder of this place. Welcome to Iron Lake hold," Alrog introduced himself and took her hand. Instead of shaking it, he lifted it to his lips.

Amowyn blushed slightly. It had been a long time since anyone had greeted her so. "I'm glad to be able to visit it. Though I have yet to have a proper tour of it." She smiled softly. For anyone really looking, they'd notice the delicate look to her hands. She had yet to completely lose her lady's hands. She had yet to get the proper calluses of a worker.

"Well, Amowyn, if you want a tour, I can provide it," Alrog said, his normally so serious face breaking to a grin when he added: "I just love showing this place around."

"Then By all means. I would enjoy hearing all about it." She smiled as she took his arm and allowed him to lead her. She gave one backward wave to her friend and didn't miss her grin. She turned to her guide and smiled up to him. "So, where shall we start?"

"Let's start from the bottom and end to the top floors. Here's the communal dining room," Alrog replied.

"Quite nice. Bigger than the hold I came from." She smiled. He was handsome and kind she noticed. He also loved his hold dearly form the look of it.

"We actually have more rooms here than we have residents. Before the plagues came, this was a bustling place," Alrog told.

"It's good to see a place like this bustling again. I can see it will someday live up to it's long ago turns. How long have you been it's Holder?" She followed him as they went into another room.

"Since my father's death few turns ago, althoug the first three turns I had a warder," Alrog replied self-conciously. He was aware how young he was for such a responsible position.

"Well, it looks as if you have been doing your father proud. Have you had any real proublems here?" She turned to inspect something on a table and unconsciously straighted a vase of flowers.

"Who didn't? This spring it's the felines." **And that sharding hallmaster.** But that thought he didn't voice out.

"Felines?" She gave an involuntary shiver. "I remember hearing their cries in the night as we traveled. I'd be glade never to hear them again." She shivered again.

"I wouldn't recommend traveling alone, those felines have killed animals from my herds," Alrog cautioned.

"I hope I don't see any on my trip back to the main hold." She shivered at the thought. She had not thought to travel with anyone. She had left her daughter with one of the ladies at the hold. She had her runnerbeast for company. It was a gentle beast she had bought during their travels.

"They do seem to prowl only at nights, but I will assing a guard to escort you back, just in case," Alrog said seriously.

"Oh, thank you. I had not thought of the dangers. You are very kind. Shall we continue our tour?" She said as she took his arm. She smiled up at him.

"Yes," Alrog replied. "Next floor we have crafter's...infirmary, harper classrooms, room for weaving and some offices..."

Amowyn smiled as she let him lead the way. She couldn't help but wish her father had married her to someone like him. He would have made any woman a fine husband.
