Description: U'val decides he's had enough of Abrei and asks R'han to please take care of things. Promptly.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 7, day 13 of Turn 3
U'val had extricated himself from the crabby and somewhat intoxicated Weyrhealer who was camped out in his weyr by the simple expedient of lying.
U'val didn't lie often, but today seemed like a good day to start. With Abrei's grasp on the concept of what sort of information was too much information slipping with every drink she had, it soon became clear to U'val that he was going to have to find _some_ way to escape. So he told Abrei he hadn't managed to get dinner and slipped out before he had to listen to any more highly startling descriptions of things he was fairly sure no one R'han's age should be capable of doing.
Instead of going to the kitchens to fetch dinner, however, U'val wandered down the familiar hallways until he found R'han's door and knocked on it.
Loudly.
R'han, slighly rumpled and very annoyed looking, answered. "What?! Oh, it's you, U'val..."
"Yes. It's me." U'val raised an eyebrow as he took the bronzerider in. "You look grumpy."
"Well, I'm sure your surrogate niece has already complained about me so you should know _why_." No sex and no Abrei to curl up with meant no sleep for R'han--and made for a grumpy bronzerider. He could rectify the first part, but that would ruin ever getting the second part back he suspected.
"My niece is too drunk to be coherent," U'val retorted, grinning at R'han's annoyance. "Which I suppose is good for me, since I prefer drunken incoherence to detailed descriptions of your prowess. Now let me in before she figures out that I haven't slipped out for dinner and comes looking for me."
R'han actually grinned as he moved aside to let the other man in. "My prowess, eh?"
U'val snorted. "Don't even start. There are some things I can do without knowing. Especially when they concern Abrei."
"Well, then, just kick her drunken arse out of your weyr. Or are you scared of her?" The grin didn't leave--he seemed to be the only one capable of even coming _close_ to putting Abrei in her place when needed.
Settling onto R'han's couch, the bluerider rolled his eyes. "The only thing worse than drunken Abrei in my weyr is drunken Abrei wandering around at large. Especially since she seems to have developed some sort of extreme dislike of most of her clothing. I couldn't quite follow the logic, but I think it was implied that somehow this was your fault."
"Crap, she _is_ snockered," R'han said. "I'd say I was sorry but I'm not.
She's not going to boss me around simply because I can't sleep when she's not around. A man has to put his foot down _eventually_."
U'val chuckled, finding the situation highly amusing. "Yes, I've always found insomnia to be a good way of letting a woman know that she's not in charge."
"Oh shut up!" R'han tossed himself on the couch. "She's incredibly bossy and I won't have it. I suppose she probably chased the drudge away and now her clothes are scattered all over the Weyr proper. If I don't take care of her, then everything goes to crackdust!" He punctuated his statement by crossing his arms and pouting.
The pout was too much. U'val's chuckle turned to outright laughter. "Oh, you deserve her all right. Shards, R'han. Stop being a stubborn old ass and go get your woman out of my weyr. I don't care if you have to seduce her on my sharding dining room table... just do something!"
R'han glared at him. "What's the matter--she killing your time with Arima...or someone else?"
U'val didn't lose his amused grin. "Not the most subtle change in topics, but if you'd _really_ like to discuss my prowess instead of yours, I suppose we can. Though from what Abrei tells me, I'm afraid you're not going to find my abilities terribly impressive. It's a pity I'm not your type... I might be able to learn something."
"If she's nattering on about my prowess when she's mad at me, maybe I should reconsider." He thought about it. "How drunk _is_ she exactly?"
"She can still walk in a mostly straight line," U'val offered with a grin.
It might be best not to tell R'han that most of Abrei's compliments on his virility had been prefaced with 'If he's so sharding old than why can he still do this?' "I think she's considering doing so without any clothing on, though, so I'm not sure that indicates that she's entirely rational."
R'han stood. "Shards...and you left her alone? I'm the only one who's supposed to see her with no clothes on!"
"Oh, so once you know she's naked, you'll go get her..." U'val grinned.
"Next time I'll tell you that first. Though she _was_ still wearing a nightgown when I made my escape. She threw the rest of her clothing in my bathing pool. I'm sure some day one of you will explain why."
R'han shook his head and headed for the door. "It's way too long a story to tell you now..." How the shards was he supposed to have a decent argument if Abrei went around bragging about his prowess and threatening to go naked about the Weyr?!
U'val waited until R'han reached the door before clearing his throat. "So...
just out of curiousity... how long do you think I need to wait before going back to my weyr?"
R'han turned, grinning. "Depends on if she's taken that nightgown off or not!" That said, he slipped through the door.
After spending a few moments considering the state he'd left Abrei in--and the chances that she'd still be clothed--U'val sighed and stood. Obviously he would be better off finding somewhere else to spend his evening. Just in case.
