"Sir!" called out the weyrling after class. "Might I have a word?"
"Always," E'naer replied and stopped to wait her. "What's on your mind, Teseada?"
"Graduation," she replied. "It'll be soon."
"Yes it is," The weyrlingmaster's third agreed. And it was making him as nervous as the weyrlings.
"I was just wondering if there was anything special that would need to be done for the celebrations."
"You mean besides making sure that Onnyth shines like the precious jewel she is?" E'naer asked humorously.
"Well that too, it's just I've seen some graduations where the Weyrlings give a demonstration before they get tapped into the wings, sort of proving themselves."
"The weyrlingmaster will decide," E'naer shrugged. "But a showly drill is the custom."
She nodded slowly, taking it in. "Will we have time to practise?"
"You are practising it all the time. It's no different that your usual drill, except it's done on lower altitude, so people on ground can see it better," E'naer answered gently.
The weyrling nodded. "Is there anything we'll need to know?"
"Make sure your equipment is well tended. Last thing you need is your flame thrower stops working while whole weyr watches," E'naer advised.
"I'd hate for that to happen, I can just see it now."
"Well, you're technician, you know probably better than I how to keep it working," E'naer grinned.
"That's true. It seemed to help that I'd seen them and helped service them before."
"I'm just lousy with technical gadgets," E'naer shrugged.
"You manage well enough with the teaching."
"Thank's. I'm glad I just have to throw firestone into Eillispeth's jaws," E'naer said.
"That might be just as much a challenge, think how much stone Onnyth would need to eat, if she could."
The greenrider laughed. "Would empty our stores in no time!"
