The Restday dawned clear and warm, and Solieira considered her day plans.
Restday did not really mean _rest_ for the Headwoman or her staff. In fact, in many cases, it meant more work than a normal day. However, she had capable people doing their jobs capable today, and she really wanted to get out of the Weyr for a bit.
She hadn't made any formal plans with U'das, and she knew he might be busy, but she headed toward his Weyr anyway, clad in a loose skirt and a short sleeved tunic with a carisak over her shoulder of various things - what she considered "necessities".
U'das was sitting on the ledge, leaning against Zack's warm side. He had his glasses on, and he was making new lures.
Zack's lazy, }: She comes :{, warning made him lift his gaze and look around.
His face broke into a wide grin.
"Sol! My favourite headwoman!"
The Headwoman in question smiled warmly at him, pausing to admire the sight of him working, and leaning against his beautiful dragon's hide.
She was quiet for a moment, and finally shook herself out of it. "I'm sorry U'das! I was admiring the view." A wink and she moved closer. "Am I interrupting big plans?"
"No, nothing important, just setting up the gear in case I decide to go fishing," U'das grinned and showed a fishing hook.
Sol admired the fishing hook for a moment then grinned. "Well, what about showing an old woman how to fish? Then I'll cook for you this evening. Fair trade?"
"It's a deal," U'das grinned. It didn't take him long to pack up the fishing equipment and put on the passanger-staps on Zack. "Do we need lunch with us?" he asked.
Sol gave him a look that said 'who do you think you're taking fishing'? Her smile was positively wicked. "Of course not, I have packed a lunch that just so happens to be enough for two, counting on my charms to persuade you to take me out, you know." She moved a little closer to Zack's warm hide, handing U'das her carisak. "Sorry, Zackariath. You'll have to fish for yourself!"
"He's more than happy to fish for himself," U'das said after moment of communicating with the bronze. He offered his hand to her, to help her up.
Sol took his hand, feeling warm from the light touch. Suddenly, spending the entire day in his company was even _more_ pleasing. Her smile broadened. "Any suggestions on where you could take me? I certainly hope my old fingers can learn to fish with your skill, U'das." She chuckled and leaned close to him to kiss his cheek.
U'das wrapped his arm around her waist and used the pretence of closing the straps to snuggle with her a bit. "It will be surprise, I know a perfect place," he replied.
Zackariath launched to the air and after receiving the visualization, went /between/.
They came out again over a chain of small islands. The bronze started circle down towards one of them. The island was crescent shaped, with the outside of crescent consisting of bare rock cliff, that lowered towards a perfect white sand
beach inside the crescent's horns. There weren't much vegetation but the cliff sheltered the beach from winds.
She managed a startled "OH!" as they circled over the islands. When the bronze landed, Sol was a bit stunned by the sheer beauty of the beach. "U'das, it looks as though no other people have ever even been here! its quite beautiful."
She had been in a Weyr her entire life, and rarely experienced the raw beauty of Pern. She took a deep breath of the salty air.
"Only me and Selja knew of this place as far as I know. At least we never met anybody here. The rockier side of the island is good fishing spot and the beach is perfect for picnic," U'das told and helped her down.
She smiled warmly at him, not minding at all the talk of Selja. "I am in the mood for either, U'das. Which would you like first? Picnic?" Her brow arched suggestively. "..Or shall I learn to fish? Be warned, bronzerider. If it has to do with food, I should be quite good at it."
"Well, we could start with fishing. Nothing's better than fresh fish done on fire," U'das replied.
Sol's mouth watered at the thought and she nodded, happily distracted from her first thought of what they should be doing. She helped him carry the things they would need, starting toward the water. "Where do we start, U'das?" She took the extra pole in hand as she adjusted her path toward the rocky place he'd
pointed out earlier.
"By finding a good spot," U'das said, slightly distracted. His attention tended to wander from where he was going to who was going with him.
Sol offered him a rather cheeky grin for a sixty seven turn old woman, linking her free arm through his. "I can think of a few good spots, and they don't all have to do with fishing, U'das." She teased, laughing as they made their way to the rocks he had - when not distracted - pointed out.
"So do I," the bronzerider grinned.
Still grinning at the thoughts in her head, the Headwoman settled easily on a rock, setting down the things she had been carrying. Turning interested brown eyes to him, now caught up in the excitement of learning to fish, she nodded toward the second pole. "Now show me what is so wonderful about fishing, and
how to do it right!"
