Lenala

Lenala

Lenala was engrossed in one of her favorite harper tales when M'galec returned, so lost in its pages that she didn't even notice her weyrmate's entrance. The story was one of deathless romance, with interludes illicit enough that they'd made her blush when she'd been a young, innocent holder.

"Faranth, what a day," M'galec sighed loudly to get her attention.

"Hmmm?" Lenala asked absently, not looking up from her book. The handsome bronzerider had just invited the shy little laundry drudge back to his weyr for a romantic dinner, and Lenala was feeling oddly jealous of the fictional young woman. Laundry was probably less stressful than managing a gold dragon and helping run the weyr, and no one had seemed terribly interested in romancing her with candlelit dinners lately.

"I said, 'Faranth, what a day'," M'galec repeated, a tad annoyed that she seemed more interested in her book than in the fact that he had come home. Fairly early, even.

The drudge demurred and her handsome bronzerider set about convincing her with sweet words and soft kisses, and Lenala turned the page without looking up. "Oh. That's nice."

The bronzerider frowned slightly and sat back on the couch next to her.
Just what was so sharding interesting? "What are you reading?"

"Just a book." Lenala's lips turned up slightly as she remembered how exciting it always was the first time a man leaned into her and whispered into her ear, or let his lips brush over the skin of her neck.
There were other things she missed now that she shared her bed almost exclusively with M'galec, but the excitement of someone _new_ was perhaps the one she missed the most.

And just what was so engrossing that she couldn't put it down for a moment and have a decent conversation with him after a long day? "Well, it certainly seems interesting. What is it about?"

Lenala made a non-committal noise as her eyes drifted down the page, trying to imagine herself into a place where romance and illicit stolen kisses and touches were the order of the day, instead of another litany of how many people M'galec had saved, or how wise and wonderful he'd been.

He definitely was not going to just sit her and let her ignore him. "If you will not tell me, I suppose I shall just have to read it for myself." The bronzerider reached over and plucked the book from her hands.

For a moment Lenala blinked in confusion, her pleasant fantasy shattered when the book disappeared. Then she glanced over her shoulder at M'galec and scowled. "M'galec, give my book back to me at once!" She didn't give him a chance to comply, reaching out with every intention of snatching her precious tale away from him.

"Hmmmm," he hummed, holding the book out of her reach, "I take it this is kind of reading is not meant to be _intellectually_ stimulating."

Lenala planted her elbow rather firmly in his side before crawling over him to reach her book. "Don't be mean, M'galec. I've got to do _something_ to keep myself entertained while I'm by myself."

M'galec was not about to take violence sitting down, nor was he going to let her have that book! He was much stronger and determined that she remember she couldn't just elbow him when she was angry to get her way.
"No you don't!" Wrapping his around her middle and tightening his grip on the fragile book he rolled them both off the sofa and onto the floor.
Pinning her down with the weight of his body he pulled the book away from her outstretched fingers. "Well, why don't we just read it together, hmmm?"
