Milk and Pie

Writers: Eimi, Paula
Date Posted: 6th November 2006

Characters: Dawyn, Nyblek
Description: Dawyn brings his brother-in-law a little treat
Location: Smith Hall (NPC)
Date: month 13, day 28 of Turn 3

Dawyn sneaked in to the infirmary. He was carrying a bottle and a bundle that gave out the delicious smell of fresh fruit pastry.
"Nyblek?" He called softly, not wanting to disturb other patients.

"Hmmm?" the apprentice groaned as he turned his head towards voice.
"Dawyn," he smiled at his brother-in-law. "Did Keles send you?"

"She told me what happened. I thought you could use some cheering up"
the smith replied and showed the bottle and pie to him.

"Milk and pie! My favorite," Nyblek said, trying to smile until the movement pulled his sensivie skin taut over bruised cheeks and eyes.
"Thanks, Dawyn."

"Hey, don't bother, you're family," Dawyn said with a slightly embarrassed grin.

"Can you help me sit up?" His ribs were still sore and it made it hard to sit up sometimes.

"Yes," Dawyn said and helped him to a sitting position. "You know, I wanted to bring you beer but your sister thought you are still too young," the smith grinned.

Well, at fifteen he probably was. But the fact that his brother-in-law thought him old enough made him feel proud. "Well, you know how sisters are."

"Yeah, over-protective. Mom's like that too," Dawyn rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, as if I wasn't old enough for a little beer," Nyblek smiled, feeling better just by talking to Dawyn man to man.

"The healers would probably throw me out if I smuggled alcohol here, so, you just had to do with milk."

Suddenly the milk he had been so excited about seemed a little bit...
childish. "It's too bad. Healers are worse than sisters and mothers."

"Yeah, now eat your pie before it gets cold."
