The More Relaxed Method

"Hey I know you!" S'rak said with a grin as he got in line for dinner behind a very familiar blond headed bath mate.

"And I know you too, if I'm not mistaken," stated Hanni. "How could anyone forget such a charming bronzerider as yourself." Truth be told Hanni thought she knew his name, and bronzerider was obvious enough from his knots. Wingsecond as well.

S'rak laughed, "I don't know about charming, I do believe I was on the desperate side when we met."

"But that was all the more interesting, don't you think?"

"If you say so, I usually prefer the more relaxed method myself. You know, the kind that involves dinner and good conversation, and then the rest of the evening to get to know eachother." He grabbed a plate and started to fill it with slices of wherry and his favorite tubers.

The greenrider followed his example, lading her own plate with food for her dinner. "Perhaps we could try it that way now?" she suggested. "I have no plans for this evening, unless you do?"

"No plans for me, and I'd love too." He filled his mug with klah and waited for her to select her drink before heading to a table. "You know, you left the bathing pool so quickly after uh, helping me get clean... I never did catch your name."

"It's Hanni," she said answering the second part first. "I think I did tell you, but you seemed to have other things on your mind at the time."

S'rak laughed and nodded his head, "You're probably right, you were _distracting_ me quite abit though, so you can't entirely blame me.
I'm S'rak by the way." he added with a wink, sure that she probably didn't know his name either.

"Well met S'rak," she said with a grin as she followed him to the table.

He opened his mouth to speak, and then realized that he knew almost _nothing_ about her. He thought for a moment for some topic they could converse on when he remembered her shoulder knots. "So greenrider, how were drills today?" he said it with a grin, hoping she would understand the humor in their situation... they knew eachother so intimately, yet hardly at all.

"Drills, well they went well. Then I had a message run to Dream's End Weyr. It was nice to get out for a change. I mean, I know Samdrath can take me where ever I want to go, but it was nice to see somewhere new for a change."

"Dream's End... I haven't been there in ages! How do their new weyrling barracks looks? They were building a new one last I was there." The old one had gotten structural damage from a fire if he remembered correctly.

"Seemed like the masons had finally finished fitting it out. It'll be ready next time one of their golds rises."

S'rak nodded, pleased the masons hadn't needed to rush. "That should be soon if I remember right, their junior."

"That's what the Weyrlingmaster there said. She's expected to rise any day, and it might be an open flight as well."

"Really." Now _that_ was interesting... "Well, lucky is the dragon who flies her. She's young and strong, there'll be a good sized clutch if she's flown by bronze."

"That's what they said, since her last clutch was sired by a brown, they were going to open it out a bit."

S'rak nodded, "It makes sense. Too bad Radeth and I are just getting to like it here at Dragonsfall. He's been the proud papa of two quite large clutches himself."

"Really," Hanni was a little impressed by that fact.

He nodded again as he chewed some bread. "Yes, actually one of them was by Corvera's Mnaiath. We were weyrlings together at Far Island Weyr."

"So you know the Weyrwoman then?"

"We're old friends." he said simply but with a smile. To get into his and Corvera's long and complicated past would take hours; and he knew how much she coveted her privacy, so he would never even think to divulge but the barest of details to anyone. "How about you? Have you gotten a chance to get to know her yet?"

"I've not met her properly yet." There was an implication of why would she, after all, she was a greenrider fairly new to the wings.

S'rak wasn't one to hold to rank boundaries, so it didn't even enter into his mind that the two women would travel in different circles. "I think you two would like each other, you've both got spirit." he said as he downed the last of his klah.

"Why thank you," she said smiling at the compliment. Maybe this evening would go somewhere after all.
