The bluerider smiled at the man who opened the cot's door. "Excuse me, sir. Are you the father of weyrling Aishara?"
"Yes, I am. How can I help you," Aivorn replied.
"I have come to collect her things, sir." As the low man in the wing, he was often assigned menial tasks the higher ranked riders passed up.
"Oh, yes, I was expecting some one to come. They are almost packed up." Almost, because he find it difficult task. He had tried to assign it to Heludia, but Aishara's former milkmother had just busted to tears and gotten even less done than he.
"Anything I can help you with, sir?" D'cal asked, hoping to hurry this along if possible.
"Dunno," Aivorn shrugged and gestured the bluerider to follow him. He went to Aishara's room. He had packed up most of her clothes but her personal items were still here and there. "You could take those already packed,"
he asked and showed the cloth bundles. She had quite a lot of clothes.
"All right." There really was a lot of stuff. Perhaps now was the best time to mention Aosorath was a rather small blue...
Aivorn started to gather up Aishara's personal items. Her dressing table was full of combs, brushes, hair ribbons and pins of all kind. Maybe he had pampered her bit too much, Aivorn reflected when the dropped them into a bag.
"Would you like me to hold that open for you?" D'cal asked, indicating the bag the master crafter was filling.
"Sure," Aivorn said and pushed it to his hands. Packing up her things, well, it made the separation so _final_.
"I suppose you haven't had much time to process all this, eh?" At least D'cal had very little to pack and bring with him. It made packing easy.
"No, I didn't," Aivorn sighed. He wondered if he should pack her old toys too.
"You must be be proud though. It's rare for someone to be chosen from the Stands."
"Yes, it is," Aivorn said shortly. He decided to leave the toys off. They weren't nessary and she could pick them up later herself. After her dragon had grown up.
D'cal could hear in his voice that the man really wasn't happy about it all. Probably it was even more of a shock to him. "Well, we'll take good care of her, sir."
"I know you will," Aivorn said with more reasonable tone. It wasn't the young bluerider's fault and it would be unfair to take it out on him.
Just because he missed his daughter so much it hurt.
"And you'd be welcome to come visit her of course."
"Of course," Aivorn grunted and handed him a bag. "I think that's everything. At least the most nessessary things."
D'cal tied the bag off with a smart knot. "If there is anything that she still needs she can either send a message home and you can send it by runner or she might be able to ask a friend to come for her."
Aivorn nodded. He already knew all that.
"Right, well, I'll start getting this loaded up." D'cal grabbed the bag and threw it over his shoulder and turned for the door.
"Let me help you," Aivorn asked and picked up the rest of them.
