Description: Birigundi and Traelyn have another flirting session, until N'vanik
interrupts them.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 7, day 18 of Turn 3
Birigundi saw the goldrider leaning lazily against the feeding ground
fence, staring off into the distance. Did she do this on purpose? Was
she _looking_ for him? That thought gave the young man confidence as he
walked up behind her unnoticed. Before she could notice him, he wrapped
his arms around her waist and placed a kiss on the same spot he had
learned was particularly sensitive in their last chance meeting.
Giving a little cry of surprise, Traelyn scrunched up her shoulders,
trying to get his lips away from that particularly ticklish spot. She
knew _exactly_ who it was. "And just _what_," she managed to get out,
"do you think you're _doing_?"
He leaned over her shoulder so she could see the impish grin on his face
as he said, "Oh, very sorry. I thought you were another goldrider."
She bit back a grin, trying to look stern. "I don't even know why I let
you get away with things like this," she growled at him, but her eyes
were glinting as she glanced at him. "Now, be a good boy and let me go,
hmm?"
"But you know I'm not a good boy," he whispered into her ear,
purposefully letting his lips linger against her skin.
"I'm quite aware of that, yes." Again her shoulders scrunched as she
tried to evade his lips. "_But_ you're supposed to be learning how to
behave, remember?" **Shameless...**
"Perhaps I need a little incentive for learning how to behave before I
let you go." An eyebrow arched in challenge.
She fave him an amused, suspicious look. "What _kind_ of incentive?"
"Just a _real_ kiss." He leaned in slightly.
"Haven't I already given you one of those, boyo?"
"All right," he smiled, undaunted, "let me give _you_ one then."
"Do you even know how?" The words were out of her mouth before she
could stop them.
"M'lady," he said as his lips came closer and closer to hers, "kissing
is one thing I don't need any more lessons in. I just like the
practice."
Before Traelyn could even think of a sarcastic reply, their lips met.
"Isn't he a little _young_ for you?" N'vanik asked as he walked up,
trying to keep his voice light.
At the sound of the bronzerider's voice, Trae broke off the kiss and
looked over Birigundi's shoulder at him. "Do age differences really
matter in a Weyr?" she asked, her voice as light as his.
Birigundi's first impulse was to drop his hands and back away, but he
was surprised by the fact that he arms tightened around the woman almost
possessively as he watch the exchange between them.
"Maybe not age, but maturity matters. You can do better than messing
around with a Candidate." N'vanik did not miss Birigundi's arms
tightening.
"Excuse me, bronzerider, but this is none of your affair." Birigundi
surprised himself with the authoritative tone his voice took. He was no
coward, but he was raised to respect riders, especially bronzeriders,
and had never talked back to one in all his turns at the Weyr.
N'vanik's eyes narrowed. "How _dare_ you talk to me like that!"
"N'vanik!" Trae said sharply, her tone warning him as her hands moved
to Birigundi's arms, gently pulling at them until she could slip away
and stand between them.
"Don't worry. He isn't worth it." N'vanik said in a calmer tone,
although his eyes still held a threat.
"Well, that is for the lady to decide and is none of your concern,
bronzerider." Birigundi looked N'vanik straight in the eye and did not
waver in the least. He might have been much younger than N'vanik, and
even he had to admit it would probably be a very short fight if it ever
came to that, but he had a feeling his pride would sting a lot longer
than cuts and bruises would if he backed down now.
"Do you _want_ to lose some teeth?" N'vanik was struggling to keep his
anger in check.
Birigundi's hands clenched and his eyes never left N'vanik's. **You're
lucky you have a dragon to hide behind!** his mind screamed. Somehow he
was able to keep that thought to himself. "Please stand down,
bronzerider. It is for the lady to decide, not you."
"It _is_ for me to decide." She turned her gaze from Birigundi to
N'vanik, her eyes narrowing warningly at him. "I don't _want_ you
starting a brawl out here." Her voice was hard, but she wasn't yelling.
Not yet. Trae hoped it wouldn't come to that...
"He's the one asking for it." The bronzerider glared at Birigundi.
"She was not objecting." Birigundi said, a bit of a smirk starting to
play on his lips. He knew that fact would irk the bronzerider to no
end. Though he also knew it was wrong to antagonize him, he couldn't
help the perverse pleasure it gave him.
The temptation to punch the little brat was growing with every second,
and N'vanik didn't trust himself to hold back much longer. As he
repeated firmly to himself, the candidate was _not_ worth getting in
trouble for. "Fine. Go ahead and do what you want." He looked pointedly
at Traelyn. "You can come find me when you're tired of playing with
_boys_." Then the bronzerider turned and walked away, wondering why he
had even cared that Trae was kissing a Candidate.
