Teseada

"Sorry I missed breakfast yesterday, I sort of got distracted." Karri said, a flush rising on her cheeks as she sat down across from her friend.

"Distracted?" asked Teseada with a grin as she recognized the expression.

Karri let out a little giggle, "Okay, maybe more than distracted, Elliath rose for her first flight."

Given that a green rose just about every day it shouldn't have been a surprise. "She did? Already?"

"Already." she assured, "I was just as surprised as anyone, believe me."

"And? Was it... good?" asked Teseada. Onnyth would rise too, but in time when she was more mature and ready to have a clutch.

Karri giggled again, just thinking about it brought a smile to her face. "Amazing! And guess who won?"

"Well as Y'nub was with me last night, it wasn't him," laughed Teseada.
"Was it, U'kaiah?"

"How did you know!" Karri exclaimed, ignoring any mention of Teseada's bronzerider. "Onnyth and Elliath better not be gossiping on me."

"A little perhaps, but Onnyth did say she looked smug." The goldrider knew that at least with U'kaiah her friend would have been okay. "He was good to you? Right?"

Karri nodded, the blush returning to her cheeks, "He was wonderful. I couldn't have hoped for a better partner. N'klar was there too, so that would have been okay, but I didn't know any of the others." She wondered if things would have gone alright if it _had_ been one of the others, but decided to push it out of her mind.

"What was it like? I mean while she was flying, not the bit that comes after." That was the thing that scared Teseada a little, what would she have to do to control her lifemate. There were scare stories of what happened if a goldrider lost control, and she really didn't want it to happen to her.

The greenrider frowned slightly as she tried to explain it. "It wasn't as hard, I don't think, as they made it out to be in training. Maybe that's because Elliath is a green and not a queen though. It was kind of like when you're pulling on rope against a canine, you know? You could easily lose the contest and he could get the rope, but you're stronger so you get it. I just kept telling myself that I was the stronger and that Elliath had to listen to me... and she did."

"That sort of makes sense, I guess." Teseada looked thoughtful for a moment. "Was it, was it as good as they say? I mean my Da told me how it was when Shoglenth chases."

Karri grinned, "The feeling is amazing. I really felt like I was Elliath, I was flying but it was different than just flying _on_ her.
I don't know... it's hard to explain. And after... well, I'd been with U'kaiah before to practice, and it was very nice; but after the flight it was so much more intense, and passionate! I guess that's what it will sort of feel like when I do it with someone I love." she added with a shrug.

"I wonder if it'll be like that when Onnyth rises."

"I would think so... probably even more intense. I mean, isn't everything just a bit _more_ with a queen?" Karri teased.

"So they tell me," Teseada managed to keep her face straight for only a few seconds before collapsing into a fit of giggles. Then she sobered up for a moment. "Karri, what if I can't do it?"

Karri looked at her friend with a sardonic smile, "You are one of the most stubborn people I know, you've just got to tell yourself that you _can_ do it, and you'll be fine."

That raised a half smile from the young goldrider. "I just hope whoever catches her is as good for me as U'kaiah was for you. Maybe it'll be Y'nub."

"I hope you get a good partner too." Karri agreed as she patted her friend's hand.

"Yeah," replied Teseada. But she'd said it herself. What would happen when Onnyth really was ready to mate?
