Description: After an unsuccessful Hatching Kavlyn and Toriat share some ale, and something more?
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 7, day 20 of Turn 3
At the end of the Hatching, Kavlyn slid up to Toriat and dropped an arm around his shoulder. "Ale. This is a situation that calls for ale."
Toriat had been looking at his sister, walking off with her new life partner. He was trying to find some excitment for her, but just couldn't muster any.
He turned his head to face Kavlyn's, nodding. "I agree. Lead ON!"
There was plenty of celebration going on, so it wasn't hard for them to snag two tankards and a wineskin. Kavlyn led Toriat into the corner where they claimed a small table. "I've been here so many times before... but this was the last one."
"Thanks, no, get two, alright." Were Toriat's monosyballic responses to Kavlyn as they made their way to the corner. "Oh no, seriously your last?
I'm sorry, here I'm a mopping about my first, and this is your last. You sure?"
"Oh, don't apologize." Kavlyn raised his tankard and grinned. "I've had a good run, but it's time I spend my time where it will do the most good...
which is in making the Weyr a more beautiful and fashionable place, of course. People _need_ me, you know."
Toriat clinked his own tankard in return. "Good point, yes, and a noble quest."
"I certainly think so." With that Kavlyn drained his tankard. With a few charming words and a wink at a drudge a pitcher ended up on their table, making it far easier to refill their mugs. "What about you? That was just your first time... lots of people have to wait until their second or third tries!"
"You're right," Toriat replied. "I keep trying to tell myself this fact, but I didn't want to listen.." He sighed. "I didn't think'd matter this much. I didn't think I really cared."
"Isn't one of those girls your sister?" Kavlyn asked, jerking his chin towards in the direction the newest weyrlings had gone. "One of the pretty ones..."
Toriat glared at Kavlyn. "Not you too," he replied mummbling under his breath. He broke out of it a moment later. "Yes she did impress. But don't look at her Kavlyn." He was starting to enter a similar fuming state to the one from the night before.
Kavlyn blinked at him in confusion. "Don't look at her? You mean... I have to close my eyes every time she walks by? That'd be a little awkward..."
"No, not that," Toriat grumbled, finishing off his mug. "Don't _look_ look at her I mean."
"Of course. That makes _so_ much more sense." Kavlyn refilled Toriat's mug, figuring ale would help the situation. "But you know, pretty girls _should_
be looked at. I'm sure _you_ like to look at the pretty ones who aren't your sister, so you know, you're being a little unfair to the rest of us."
"Thanks," he said taking another sip. "Well, yes, I look at girls too I guess. But I know my intentions are honorable. I can't thay the tame for most of t'other men here." Toriat's words were only just beginning to blur.
"Well, you can't say that about me, that's for sure," Kavlyn retorted, refilling his own mug as well. Toriat was obviously going to be easy to get drunk, so he'd have to drink twice as fast to keep up. "My intentions are highly suspect, my dear tanner. You're not safe from me, either."
"Ahh, but my dear tailor, I can take care of myself," Toriat was thinking he liked this turn of conversation. He was debating whether less, or more alcohol would be better. "Bu 'tif you're intentions are be'in suspicious to me, leave my sister 'lone, or it'd get tooo weeird."
"Ahh, I have to choose?" Kavlyn drank half his mug in one gulp and then slammed it down. "Well, that's easy! She's got a baby dragon, so I'll pick you!"
**Hhhmmm,** Toriat had not thought about that aspect of Aryn impressing.
That Birigundi couldn't touch her now for a good long time. **and come to think, I don't think I saw him impress either.** Toriat crowwed in delight, he suddenly felt a lot better. Especially with Kavlyn flattering him. Maybe the alcohol was helping a bit too.
"Should I stop drinking this Kav?" Toriat said shaking his mug, a bold twinkle in his eye, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I think you're more potent then any brew."
"There are perks to not Impressing, you know," Kavlyn replied in a voice just as low. "They've said goodbye to romance for the next three months, and are going to spend tomorrow morning chopping up hunks of meat... where as we can both sleep late after doing whatever we want this evening..."
Toriat pushed his mug to the side. **Just the right amount** he thought.
Just enough to finally be reckless enoughto persue this, and not too much so that he wasn't slobbering. "Excellent pints Kavlyn, would like to _explore_ them further, somewhere else?"
"We'll find a place," Kavlyn promised him, reaching past Toriat to finish the boy's ale. After all, it wouldn't do to let it go to waste! Let Birigundi enjoy not touching Toriat's sister... Kavlyn would just enjoy Toriat.
