The Headwoman grinned as she set aside the last of her items. K'mai would enjoy this cloth, and also some of the small tapestries she'd discovered in one of the back storerooms when helping Rizona settle. She hadn't seen much of him lately, but she enjoyed visiting with the bluerider when they did run into each other. These items were a grand way to pay a visit.
Once more wishing she had a fire lizard, Solieira sighed a bit as she went looking through the dining caverns, hoping to catch the bluerider at the evening meal so she could tell him to come get his presents.
K'mai was chatting with some of his wingmates and saw Solieira out of the corner of his eye. She looked like she was searching for someone and he waved to get her attention. Maybe he could help her find them.
Sol grinned back at him and headed his direction. "Pardon me, dragonriders.
Normally I wouldn't get between a rider and his food, but K'mai, could I have a word? You're just the bluerider I was looking for.." His eyebrows went up. "Me? Well, dear Headwoman, you can certainly have a word with me." Smiling, K'mai excused himself from his wingmates and got up from the table.
Sol grinned and crooked her finger. "I have presents for you, bluerider.
Perhaps you'd like to come by my office and pick them up? I try to set aside things as I find them for people I know would use them." Her head tilted with a faint chuckle. "You might need your dragon's help."
"Presents!" K'mai's eyes lit up. **Sebeth, could you land near the Headwoman's office? She has presents for us.**
}:I will come,:{ was the dragon's reply.
"Sebeth is on his way," the bluerider said as he followed Solieira. "What did you find for me?"
Solieira led the way, describing as they walked. "I found some gorgeous cloth, almost the same blue as Sebeth's hide. That is what made me think of you, K'mai." Her grin was fond as they walked; she'd had as much the raising of K'mai, along with all the other weyrbrats, as her own children over the turns, and had whipped him more than once. "I also found 4 of the smaller tapestries that make such lovely decorations for these stone walls." She patted the wall of her office as they arrived outside of it. "A couple of extra mugs and a flask for wine, barely scratched." She waved a hand toward the pile of things. "All for me?" K'mai looked over the pile. "Thank you, Sol!" He gave the older woman a brief hug.
Sol smiled at the hug and returned it. "I needed to clear some space, K'mai, and you're the lucky recipient of my generosity." She winked. "Enjoy, hmm? And make sure you entertain after you decorate your weyr, hmm?"
"You know I will!" The bluerider grinned. "Any excuse for a party! And you're invited, of course. You can bring someone special, too." There was a teasing twinkle in his eyes.
Sol laughed at that, the warm, rich laugh of a woman who _does_ have someone special. "That's very nice of you, K'mai, but who wants two old people at their party?" She was not serious; U'das would likely love to go to something like that, but it was a very funny picture in her mind regardless. "And what would you know about someone special, you whelp of a dragonrider?" Her brown eyes shone with teasing. "Oh, I've heard things." K'mai unrolled one of the tapestries to admire it.
"Something about you and a bronzerider that just happens to be my Wingleader."
He kept his eyes on the cloth, but his smile was wide.
Sol rolled her eyes a bit at the bluerider, laughing. "I don't kiss and tell, dear. But perhaps we'll surprise you!" Her smile broadened and she moved away a bit to let him sort out his presents. "I promise to be suitably shocked when you show up together," he said.
Sol laughed at him, shaking her head. "You do that, K'mai. Now, off with you and your presents and back to your younger, more lively friends." She winked.
She was _plenty_ lively still, as U'das could certainly attest. "Thanks again, Sol." K'mai planted a kiss on her cheek and went to gather up his treasures.
